“They got Trump at the game for his recruiting”: NBA star Paul George jokes about AJ Dybantsa’s visit to Alabama when Donald Trump was there

No. 1-rated high school basketball recruit AJ Dybantsa was on Paul George's "Podcast P" show, talking about basketball, recruitment and college. However, when he brought up his Alabama visit, he admitted that it was a wild experience as it happened at the same time as when former president Donald Trump was visiting the area.

Dybantsa told the podcast's hosts that he went to a Kansas State football game, a BYU football game and an Alabama football game during his official visits, but admitted nothing would compare to his experience in Tuscaloosa. He noted that because Trump was there, the Bryant-Denny Stadium was packed.

"And that was crazy," said AJ Dybantsa regarding the Alabama game he watched. (1:12:57-1:12:58)

This got host Paul George to quip that Alabama had Donald Trump on to try to recruit AJ.

"This man got Trump at the game for his recruiting," George joked.
"That was a crazy vibe," Dybantsa said. "I mean, I've been a fan of football I used to play football when I was younger, but I've never been ... that was crazy."

Trump's visit to Alabama was during the school's game against Georgia last September. As Dybantsa noted during the podcast, Trump was in a suite high above.

The Utah Prep small forward has already named his final seven schools, and Alabama is one of them.

AJ Dybantsa is only projected to stay in college for one year before entering the NBA draft, where he is projected to be the No. 1 pick in 2026. Despite this, schools are reportedly willing to hand him millions just so that he can play for them.

AJ Dybantsa's final seven schools are BYU, Kansas State, Alabama, North Carolina, Auburn, Kansas and USC. The odds-on favorite is BYU at 68.9% chance, per On3. However, the Utah Prep star has said he will only reveal which one he will go to in February next year.
