Three-star Toledo LB commit Gavin Leach confirms receiving offer from South Florida: Reports

Three-star linebacker Gavin Leach, from Castle High School in Newburgh, Indiana, is quickly becoming one of the top seniors to watch in the nation. Despite committing to the Toledo Rockets, he continues to attract attention from college programs.

South Florida entered the race for Leach's recruitment by offering him on Sunday for the Bulls 2025 class. The linebacker shared the news on X, writing,

"Thankful to receive an offer from @USFFootball."

USF has 23 committed players in the 2025 class, which ranks No. 63 in the nation. The cycle has already secured a commitment from three-star linebacker DeAngelo Bowden, from St. John's High School in Washington, D.C.

The Bulls also offered multiple linebackers for the 2025 class, including Tarvos Alford, Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, Tyler Lockhart, Elijah Melendez, CJ Jimcoily, Luke Metz, Ethan Pritchard, Kellen Wiley, Kris Thompson, Ezekiel Marcelin, Jaiden Braker and Canaan Edwards.

Gavin Leach's recruitment update

The Northern Illinois Huskies were the first to recognize Gavin Leach's potential by extending an offer to him on Jan. 28, and he committed to the program a month later. However, his recruitment took a turn when the Toledo Rockets offered him a spot on Feb. 29. After a month of consideration, he decommitted from Northern Illinois and pledged his commitment to Toledo on April 23.

Toledo currently boasts 19 committed players in the 2025 recruiting class, positioning them at No. 73 nationally. Yet, Leach's recruitment story does not end there. This month again witnessed a surge in his recruitment. Besides the USF offer, he picked up offers from Cincinnati, Western Michigan and Washington State.

In the season opener against North, Leach recorded 16 total tackles, leading his team with nine solo tackles, one tackle for loss, and a remarkable 51-yard interception return for a touchdown. According to his MaxPreps account, he recorded 39 tackles (22 solo and 17 assisted), five tackles for losses and one interception throughout three games.

Gavin Leach will likely continue to attract more offers from high-profile programs. With his potential, there is always the possibility of another commitment flip, especially if he catches the eye of a major college football powerhouse.
