Galveston, Texas, native Jonah Williams has received offers from more than 20 programs across the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC. As a junior in 2023, the five-star recruit earned the title of Texas District 9-5A D-I Defensive Player of the Year.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Williams recorded 20 receptions for 474 yards and eight touchdowns for Ball High School, along with two rushes for 144 yards and two touchdowns, while also contributing on defense with 58 tackles, four tackles for loss and four interceptions.

As a left-handed pitcher, Jonah Williams can hit speeds of 94 MPH, and he is also a phenomenal basketball player. Williams ranks as the No. 16 player in the country, the No. 1 safety and the No. 4 player in Texas, per On3. 247Sports lists him as the No. 7 player in the country, the No. 1 safety and the No. 3 player in the state.

#3. Oklahoma

Oklahoma was seen as a heavy favorite for Jonah Williams in the spring. Several recruiting analysts, including 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong, SoonerScoop's Josh McCuistion, On3's Justin Wells and Rivals' Landyn Rosow, have all predicted the safety of landing with the Sooners.

Despite a recent shift in momentum, Oklahoma still has a 15.6% chance to secure Williams' commitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

The Sooners' 2025 class is ranked No. 10 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, featuring multiple four-star prospects such as Ryan Fodje, Cortez Mills, Elijah Thomas, Trystan Haynes, CJ Nickson and Trent Wilson.

#2. Texas A&M

Texas A&M baseball's recent run to the College World Series final has positively influenced Williams' interest in coach Mike Elko's football program. Several visits to the school this spring have placed it in a strong position heading into the next wave of visits. Elko's track record of developing NFL-caliber safeties also resonates with Williams.

The Aggies have a 25.1% chance to land Jonah Williams' commitment. Their 2025 recruiting class is ranked No. 6 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

The class is headlined by five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet and includes other four-star prospects such as Adonyss Currie, Noah Mikhail, Kiotti Armstrong, Marco Jones, Cobey Sellers and Kelshaun Johnson.

#1. Oregon

Oregon currently leads the race for Jonah Williams, with On3's Justin Wells predicting the Ducks to secure his commitment. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Oregon a 56.4% chance of landing Williams.

"I have a lot of family that lives by the campus," Williams told On3. "I have a great feeling talking to them and it’s always been a fan favorite for everyone because of their jerseys, but my brother and I loved Oregon."

Jonah Williams' official visit to Eugene on the weekend of June 21 strengthened Oregon's position as the frontrunner.

“The return to Oregon was great,” Williams said. “My time was well spent and I will be back for sure.”

Oregon has 16 committed players, which ranks No. 4 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings for the 2025 class. Five-star prospects Dakorien Moore and Dallas Wilson are the headlines of the class.
