Travis Hunter high school stats: A look at Colorado Buffs star's career before college

Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter had a remarkable career at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia, where he showcased his talent as both a cornerback and wide receiver. In his sophomore year, he led his county with seven interceptions and recorded 49 receptions for 919 yards and 12 touchdowns.

His junior season was even more impressive. Hunter tallied eight interceptions, 51 tackles, and 137 catches for 1,746 yards and 24 touchdowns, earning him the MaxPreps Georgia Player of the Year award.

In his senior year, Hunter recorded 76 receptions for 1,128 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense while also making 23 tackles, four interceptions and one forced fumble.

Collins Hill High School coach Drew Swick talked about Hunter's career in February.

“Travis is a great ambassador for Collins Hill," Swick said on DNVR. ... "[Travis] has a ton of support at Collins Hill. He’s always coming back every summer, talks with the kids and shows his face. Now that his brother is here I’m assuming we’re gonna see him more.”

In high school, Hunter averaged 14.6 yards per reception and scored 300 points.

Travis Hunter: A rising star in college football's NIL era

Travis Hunter is now one of the most prominent figures in college football, with a combined social media following of 1.3 million on Instagram and TikTok. He won the Paul Hornung Award for the nation's most versatile player last season and earned Consensus All-American honors.

Hunter recorded three interceptions, eight pass deflections and 30 tackles, including two for loss. Reflecting on his unique dual-role capabilities, Hunter said (via ESPN):

"Pretty often, people say I can't be real, and it's amazing what I do."

Despite his rising fame, Hunter remains grounded, saying,

"I've never been tempted. I love my lifestyle. I love being the boring person I am."

Last season, Travis Hunter accumulated 1,102 snaps, 475 on offense, 631 on defense, and 32 on special teams, averaging 114.7 per game. His stellar performance earned him Consensus All-American honors and a second-team All-Pac-12 selection.
