"Truly one of the most gifted playmakers": National HS football scout on Oregon Ducks WR commit Dakorien Moore

Oregon Ducks gained a monumental addition on July 4, 2024, when Dakorien Moore, a five-star wide receiver from Duncanville, Texas, committed to the program. Moore, widely regarded as the nation’s top wide receiver, opted for Oregon over other powerhouse schools such as Texas, LSU and Ohio State.

His commitment is historic, as he now holds the distinction of being the highest-rated recruit to ever pledge to Oregon. He has surpassed former Ducks star and current New York Giants defensive lineman, Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 186 pounds, Moore is universally acknowledged as one of the top five prospects in the 2024 recruiting class. According to On3's ranking, he sits at No. 4 overall. On3 national scout Cody Bellaire has heaped high praise on Moore, noting:

"Moore is a threat behind the line of scrimmage, at the sticks, in the red zone and deep downfield. He is truly one of the most gifted playmakers in the last few recruiting cycles at the receiver position. He is truly rare.”

Bellaire emphasized Moore’s unique skillset, calling him “rare,” and highlighting his route-running, separation from defenders and ability to dominate in the air.

"Dakorien Moore’s talent at the wide receiver position can be encapsulated in one word: rare."

Moore also boasts impressive track credentials, clocking a personal best of 10.63 seconds in the 100-meter dash in 2023. He was also part of Duncanville’s 4x100 meter relay team, which finished as state runner-up with a time of 40.26 seconds.

Oregon Ducks soar with Dakorien Moore, the highest-rated commit in program history

Dakorien Moore surpasses previous top commits like Kayvon Thibodeaux (2019), Justin Flowe (2020) and Haloti Ngata (2002) as the highest-rated commit in history.

Despite Oregon’s 2025 recruiting class ranking No. 11 overall, the Ducks hold the top spot in 'rating per commit' at 94.53, with just 15 pledges.

Moore boasts exceptional records and abilities as On3 scout Cody Bellaire highlighted his exceptional field awareness:

"His ability to naturally track the football downfield accentuates his capacity as a vertical threat while his ability to shift gears and mix up the pacing of his routes keeps corners on their toes and allows for him to separate effortlessly at all levels of the field."

As a sophomore, Moore gained a total of 764 yards in receptions and caught six touchdowns. He spectacularly began his 2023 season, catching seven throws for 281 yards and three touchdowns in the game against South Oak Cliff, who are the reigning 5A Division II state champions.
