Watch: 5-star Texas commit Aaliyah Crump's high school mixtape showcases her hooping prowess
Montverde (Florida) Academy small forward Aaliyah Crump, a five-star prospect who has already committed to the Texas Longhorns, has been showcasing her prowess with her Nike Girls EYBL program, All Iowa Attack. She was recently featured in a mixtape by Courtside Films where she showed off why she is one of the best forwards in high school.
Crump is the No. 5 overall player and the No. 2 small forward nationally. She is also the No. 2 player in Minnesota although she is already regarded as a hard commit to Texas and would not be entertaining any other offers.
247Sports director for scouting for women's basketball Brandon Clay, noted that Crump is a scorer who can shoot from beyond the arc and can also attack the basket. At 6-foot-1, she has the height and has used it to her advantage. She also has a high basketball IQ and knows how to pick her shots, especially getting a quality shot or driving down the lane to attack the rim. That basketball IQ has resulted in her rarely taking forced shots.
Clay added that her game would continue to improve as she physically gets stronger. She is also a solid rebounder and a huge addition to any college program.
Aaliyah Crump only scratching the surface of her potential, says her coach
Aaliyah Crump is the first big commitment for Texas coach Vic Schaefer and his recruiting team from the Class of 2025. She received offers from Duke and Ohio State but ultimately chose the Longhorns and announced her decision on Jul. 8.
Before going to Montverde Academy, she went to Minnetonka (Minnesota) High School where she averaged 24.5 points (56.3% field goal shooting), 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Her former coach Brian Cosgriff, talked about her commitment to Texas in an interview with Star Tribune in July.
“She has tremendous upside,” Cosgriff said. “I think Texas is getting a great player with Aaliyah, who is only scratching the surface of her potential.”
Cosgriff coached Aaliyah Crump on their way to win the 4A Minnesota State Championship.
“She’s way up there skill-wise. I think her ability to work hard and her dedication definitely makes her one of the best I’ve coached. Her best basketball is ahead of her.”
