WATCH: Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan Anthony's middle school mixtape highlights why he has risen to become a top HS prospect
Kiyan Anthony, the son of NBA great Carmelo Anthony, has been turning heads in the basketball world with his impressive skills. The young star has emerged as one of the top high school prospects, and his recent middle school mixtape is proof of his potential.
Known for his scoring ability, court vision and high basketball IQ, Kiyan has particularly shone during the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) season.
Standing 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, Kiyan transferred from Christ the King High School to face stronger competition. In the 2023-2024 season, he’s averaging 10.3 points, 2.4 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game.
One of his standout moments came at the 2024 NBPA Top 100 Camp, where he dropped 35 points in a single game.
Kiyan is ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports Composite, placing him as the No. 28 player in the nation, the No. 6 shooting guard and the top player from New York in the class of 2025.
While Kiyan has yet to receive an offer from Auburn, he is interested in the school. He’s already received offers from Syracuse and USC and has spoken highly of both programs.
Discussing Syracuse, Kiyan highlighted its "young core" and new direction under coach Adrian Autry.
"Syracuse has a young core on the team now. And I learned a lot about the coaches and their vision," he said. "They're very together, I mean they're still trying to figure everything out. The team is switching to Coach [Adrian] Autry's identity, switching from the zone to man to man. They're still recruiting hard, trying to put together the 2024 and the 2025 classes."
At USC, Kiyan has developed a strong connection with coach Eric Musselman and assistant Quincy Pondexter.
Carmelo Anthony dismisses return to Olympics despite son Kiyan's hopes
Carmelo Anthony, now 40 years old, has officially ruled out any possibility of returning to play in future Olympic Games. During "The Kiyan Anthony Show," Kiyan hinted at the potential for his father to make a comeback, possibly for a future Olympic appearance.
However, Carmelo was quick to shut down that idea, saying:
"I don't want to replace nobody, they deserve to be on that team. I would come out and just be like a little honorary captain."
Carmelo Anthony, the third overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft, enjoyed a 19-year NBA career before retiring in 2023. His last Olympic run occurred at the 2016 Rio Games, where he helped the U.S. team secure another gold medal. Over his 14-year tenure with Team USA, Carmelo won three consecutive gold medals and one bronze.
Now in his second full year of retirement, Carmelo Anthony's decision didn't surprise his son.
"I think it's over," Kiyan remarked. "He's been getting too comfortable, chilling and working."
Carmelo Anthony still holds the record for most games played by a U.S. Olympic men's basketball player, appearing in 31 games, scoring 336 points and grabbing 125 rebounds.
