"When you in the seat, you really don't know what to say": Kiyan Anthony gets "star struck" upon meeting his favorite NBA player
Kiyan Anthony might be the son of an NBA legend, but his favorite player happens to be the Philadelphia small forward, Paul George. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Long Island Lutheran High School recently met his childhood hero on his father, Carmelo Anthony's podcast.
The youngster revealed that he was "star-struck" after meeting the 34-year-old NBA star. Anthony called George the "GOAT" over his own father, who himself was a 10-time NBA All-Star. The 17-year-old spoke about his meeting with George and his experience sitting beside him on his father's podcast.
"I didn't know what to expect because I always been watching the podcast but I didn't know like when you in the seat, you really don't know what to say. Paul George was on it, so I was just listening to everything he was saying," Kiyan Anthony said on his podcast appearance with George, as per Overtime's YouTube channel.
The New York native is ranked no.34 in the nation and is the 8th-ranked player in his position from his class, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the best overall prospect from the state of New York.
Kiyan Anthony talks about the Syracuse Orange as he names the program in his final shortlist
Kiyan Anthony and Syracuse go a long way, thanks to his father. The former NBA superstar played one season for the Orange and led them to a NCAA Championship. Kiyan has named Syracuse in his final shortlist along with Auburn and USC.
The 17-year-old shooting guard spoke about the program in a previous interview with On3.
"Syracuse has a young core on the team now. And I learned a lot about the coaches and their vision," Anthony said, as per On3. "The team is switching to Coach (Adrian) Autry’s identity, switching from the zone to man to man... When I speak with the coaches, they let me know the vision... I liked all the stuff I heard from them."
Syracuse's class of 2025 is currently ranked no.42 in the country, as per 247Sports' 2025 Overall Basketball Team Rankings. They have acquired 2 commitments from the class so far in the form of Florida-based power forward Sadiq White Jr. and Wisconsin-based small forward Aaron Womack. Acquiring Anthony will go a long way in improving their ranking.
Other teams that extended an offer to the four-star forward were Providence, Maryland, Florida State, and Ohio State, among others.
