Who is Jayvon Gilmore? All we know about the 2026 QB who committed to Arkansas

Jayvon Gilmore, a promising three-star quarterback from Gaffney, South Carolina, announced his commitment to the Arkansas Razorbacks on Thursday via Instagram Live. Gilmore chose Arkansas over offers from notable programs such as NC State, Virginia Tech, Boston College, UCF, Texas A&M and Louisville.

Gilmore is ranked as the No. 466 overall prospect and the No. 36 QB for the 2026 cycle by the On3 Industry Ranking. He also holds the title of the No. 9 player in South Carolina. His commitment adds to Arkansas' 2026 class, joining San Diego St. John Bosco's three-star safety, Tay Lockett.

"Throughout my recruiting the Hogs never stop loving and caring about me," Gilmore told 247Sports. "Since day 1 of our process of us talking, Arkansas has flat out showed us they didn't want any quarterback in my class but me. So when we arrived at the Hogwild Hangout, there was no other place I would rather be."

During his junior year at Ben Lippen School, Gilmore completed 118 passes for 1,767 yards and 22 touchdowns, with only seven interceptions. Additionally, he rushed for 112 yards, underlining his versatility on the field.

He is designated as the top high school QB in South Carolina and the fourth player in the junior class according to 247Sports. He is also ranked number 18 among the national QBs in the 2026 class. Gaffney High School, where Gilmore has recently attended, ended the group stage last season to become 9-4 with a battle-won ratio of 3-1.

They ended their season strong, winning seven of their last nine games, with losses only to Byrnes and state champion Dutch Fork in the playoffs. Gilmore narrowed his choices to Arkansas, Louisville, NC State, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech on Jun. 28. Offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino extended an offer on May 13.

Arkansas Razorbacks bolster roster with key 2026 and 2025 recruits

Jayvon Gilmore is ranked as the nation's No. 19 QB in South Carolina for the Class of 2026 by 247Sports. Gilmore's commitment marks Arkansas' first South Carolina signee since Eli Henderson in 2022.

For the 2025 cycle, Razorbacks boasts the No. 28 recruiting class nationally and No. 13 in the Southeastern Conference, featuring 19 commitments. A major win was securing Jesup (Ga.) Wayne County's four-star linebacker Tavion Wallace, the No. 66 overall recruit and No. 3 linebacker. Swayed by defensive coordinator Travis Williams and head coach Sam Pittman, Wallace praised the team's atmosphere and culture.

“I never thought I would consider them in any way possible, but you know T-Will, that’s my dog and when I took my first OV out there I was like ‘it’s going to be nothing but country living,’ but when I went up there I fell in love with it,” Wallace told On3.

Another highlight of the 2025 class is North Little Rock (Ark.) Central Arkansas Christian's four-star QB Grayson Wilson, ranked as the No. 26 QB. Other notable recruits include Saint Cloud (Fla.) Osceola’s three-star offensive tackle Connor Howes, Jackson (Miss.) Hartfield Academy’s three-star defensive lineman Reginald Vaughn, and Terrell (Texas) three-star EDGE Keiundre Johnson.
