"Ya'll ain't peeping passion": No. 1 prospect AJ Dybantsa cheers for his sister's volleyball playoff match
Five-star small forward AJ Dybantsa, the No.1 basketball prospect in the 2025 class, cheered for his sister's volleyball playoff match via Instagram on Monday. He shared a clip of Jasymn Dybantsa performing an incredible serve for Cardinal Spellman against the Ludlow Lions.
Although the serve was received well, Jasymn's team still scored the point and won the game. The whole squad rushed the court to celebrate.
"Yea, first playoff game dub❤️" Dybantsa wrote.
"Ya'll ain't peeping passion," he added.
AJ Dybantsa's sister, an MH for Cardinal Spellman in the Bronx, New York, had an impressive sophomore year and is likely to be a top prospect in the Class of 2027.
The Utah Prep forward has been sensational as well. His all-around game reeks of NBA potential. Dybantsa has received over 25 offers from various top universities. According to 247Sports, the BYU Cougars have a 100% possibility of securing him.
According to On3, AJ Dybantsa has a $2 million NIL value. He is also expected to be the top pick in the 2026 NBA draft.
The Cougars, now in the Big 12, last won an NCAA Tournament game in 2014 and have had only three appearances since then. However, new coach Kevin Young, who replaced new Kentucky coach Mark Pope, has an NBA background. That pro experience may play a major role in Dybantsa's final decision.
AJ Dybantsa's dad shares insights about his and his sister's training
Anicet "Ace" Dybantsa Sr. passed down his work ethic and high motor to his children. He had special tricks to ensure his son and two daughters followed their workout schedule.
"When they were younger, they all used to do push-ups … 50 in the morning and 50 in the evening for AJ," he told an NBA insider. "I work nights, so I’m not home, and they thought they would get away with not doing their pushups at night. Guess what I did – had a camera system in the house where they would do pushups, so you couldn’t cheat."
Dybantsa's mother, Chelsea, wasn't pleased with the setup, but Dybantsa Sr. knew what he was doing. He used to double the work if the siblings skipped a session.
AJ Dybantsa was sent to Paris with his sisters in 2018. The three of them used to wake up on time and do push-ups. Dybantsa Sr. held himself accountable and said he used to take AJ's phone for not doing what he was told to do.
