RB Jasper Parker shares reasons behind committing to UoM

“You’re among some of the greatest coaches” - Latest Michigan RB Jasper Parker shares reasons behind committing to Sherrone Moore’s team

Jasper Parker, a standout running back from Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw, has committed to the University of Michigan. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect chose the Wolverines over a host of prestigious programs, including Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, Duke, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, USC, Oklahoma State, and North Carolina.

Ranked as the No. 54 running back nationally by 247Sports and the No. 32 running back overall in the industry-generated composite rankings, Parker is also recognized as the No. 28 talent in Louisiana for the 2025 class.

Parker became a prime target for first-year head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff during the spring, with new running backs coach Tony Alford playing a pivotal role in his recruitment.

“Just the importance of graduating from The M,” Parker told On3. “Beyond it, you have a National Title contender every year and you’re among some of the greatest coaches to coach the game including the running back room in Tony Alford."

Jasper Parker emphasized the comprehensive development Michigan offers:

“They produce on and off the field. It was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.”

Parker’s connection with Michigan strengthened following a visit to Ann Arbor in April, setting the stage for his official visit.

“I kind of felt it as soon as I got on campus,” Parker said. “I was going to go somewhere that felt right for me. We have a Louisiana guy, Coach Ron Bellamy. What’s not to be excited about?
"Coach Moore showed his stripes many times. Just a dependable guy. Knows how important The M is. Following his leadership is definitely going to be fun.”

Jasper Parker is the eighth commit for Michigan’s 2025 class, which On3 ranks as the No. 13 class nationally.

“Coach Alford’s track record paired with Coach Moore’s expertise was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

Michigan’s infectious energy seals commitment from Jasper Parker: "The energy was infectious"

During his April visit, Jasper Parker was impressed by head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff, especially new running backs coach Tony Alford, and decided after his second visit to Ann Arbor.

"The visit was great," Parker shared with The Michigan Insider in April. "Me and my family felt the culture immediately. Meeting the alumni highlighted the importance of being a Michigan man and the history that comes with it."

Coach Alford's impressive track record and his focus on long-term development resonated with Parker.

"His main message to me was development is not where I am in a year, but where I will be in the future and how he could help me get there. I feel he is wise beyond words."

Jasper Parker received over 20 scholarship offers from Power 5 programs however, Michigan stood out during his visits.

"What stood out most was the way everyone treated each other from Coach Moore, who's a first-year head coach to Coach Alford, who's been in the program for maybe a month," Parker explained. "The energy was infectious, and you could tell why they win as much as they do!"

Ranked as the No. 440 overall prospect and the No. 14 player in Louisiana for 2025 by 247Sports Composite, Jasper Parker's commitment signifies a significant win for Michigan's recruiting efforts.
