Revisiting NFL RB Derrick Henry's high school stats following his record-breaking run for the Ravens in Week 4

Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens dominated the Buffalo Bills 35-10 in their Week 4 matchup. The Ravens had control of the game from start to finish. The running game, led by Henry, is very prevalent in Baltimore, as it is a focal point of their offensive game.

Derrick Henry, who the Ravens acquired in the offseason, had a tremendous game, going for 199 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown. Henry averaged a vast 8.3 yards per carry. He also had a receiving touchdown. But that's not all that Henry accomplished.

In their game against the Bills, Ravens running back Derrick Henry broke off for an 87-yard touchdown run. It was the longest touchdown run in the Baltimore Ravens' history.

Along with Tony Dorsett, Henry already holds the NFL record for the longest rushing touchdown, 99 yards, which he did back in 2018.

Derrick Henry's run against the Bills was reminiscent of his absolute domination in high school, where he set all sorts of records.

Derrick Henry's record-breaking high school stats

Derrick Henry's high school football career was like nothing that's been seen before. It was sheer dominance against the opponent. At the time, the 6'3, 241-pound running back was a problem for high school football defenses all across the state of Florida.

Henry played for Yulee High School, which is just outside Jacksonville. In his four years in high school, Henry accumulated a record 12,124 yards and 153 rushing touchdowns.

Per Sporting News, as a senior in 2012, Henry broke Ken Hall's national career high school rushing record of 11,232 yards which had stood for nearly 60 years. Henry broke the record with a 52-yard touchdown run during a playoff game. He ended the game with an incredible line of 482 yards, a Florida postseason record, and six touchdowns on 58 carries.

That same year, he also set Florida's single-game rushing record with a 502-yard performance, where he also scored six touchdowns. He finished his senior season with 4,261 yards and 55 touchdowns, which also broke state records.

He won a plethora of awards and accolades to his name at the end of his high school football career. He was named Florida's Mr. Football and awarded the Max Preps National Player of the Year. Henry was also an Adidas U.S. Army All-American, just to name a few of his honors.

Derrick was a highly touted recruit. He was a 5-star and was ranked as the number 1 athlete in the country in the class of 2013 per 247sports. He received scholarship offers from major college football programs like Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennesee, and more. He ultimately decided to follow Nick Saban and play his college ball at Alabama.

Derrick Henry was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Tennesee Titans, where he played for eight seasons. He became a Baltimore Raven in 2024.
