Top 10 teams with highest average rating in class of 2025 ft. Ohio State 

The 2024 college football season is underway and teams have started their respective campaigns. The usual suspects are expected to make the playoffs with a few surprises in the mix. Teams such as Ohio State, Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma will have a lot of eyeballs on them this season.

However, the beginning of the new CFB season hasn't stopped teams from shoring their rosters for the upcoming seasons. The top programs in the country have already landed multiple commitments from the class of 2025 and are poised to add more in the coming months.

Here's a closer look at the top 10 teams with the best average rating per commit in the class of 2025.

#10. Oklahoma

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, the Oklahoma Sooners' class of 2025 is ranked No. 10 in the country. Their average rating is 90.989 according to the metric, which is two points lower than the previous year.

Oklahoma has already landed 23 commitments from the class of 2025. However, the Brent Venables-led side has only managed to land one five-star recruit so far. Oklahoma has extended offers to more than 200 high school athletes from the class.

#9. Texas A&M

The Texas A&M Aggies currently rank No. 9 in the 2025 On3 Football Team Recruiting Rankings. The Aggies have earned themselves a rating of 91.22 according to the metric, which is an improvement from the previous year.

The Mike Elko-led side has landed 20 commitments, but, just like the Oklahoma Sooners, they have only managed to sign one five-star prospect from the class so far. However, the Aggies are trending in the right direction and are set to acquire more commitments in the future.

#8. Oregon

The Oregon Ducks' class of 2025 is ranked No. 8 in the country, as per On3 Football Team Recruiting Rankings. Oregon has fallen five spots from last year's rankings. The Ducks have a rating of 91.75 this year.

Oregon landed fewer commitments from the previous two teams, but it has managed to acquire three five-star recruits so far. The program has already built a strong overall roster for the future and is still in the running to land more top athletes from the class.

#7. Tennessee

Tennessee is ranked No. 7 in the country, according to the 2025 On3 Football Recruiting Team Rankings. The Volunteers have jumped six spots from their previous year's ranking and have earned a rating of 92.01.

The Vols have landed 24 recruits so far from the class of 2025, including one five-star recruit in David Sanders Jr. The team managed to land a couple of five-star recruits from the class of 2024, so they will have to make efforts to at least match that from the class of 2025.

#6. Texas

Texas is having a great recruiting summer this year. The Longhorns have landed three five-star recruits so far and have propelled themselves to No. 6 in the 2025 On3 Football Team Recruiting Rankings.

The Longhorns' class of 2025 has earned an On3 rating of 92.02 and they have landed a total of 19 commitments so far. Texas has made a good in-state recruiting run with a 63% success rate till now. The Steve Sarkisian-led side will look to add more talented recruits in the coming weeks.

#5. Auburn

Despite not landing a single five-star commitment so far from the class of 2025, the Auburn Tigers have established themselves in the top five of the 2025 On3 Football Team Recruiting Rankings so far. The program has made a three-place jump from last year with a current rating of 92.14.

Auburn has landed 23 commitments so far from the class of 2025 with 15 four-star prospects on its roster. The Tigers are poised to add a few more top athletes from the class of 2025 going forward.

#4. Georgia

Georgia finished the 2023 recruiting season at the top of the 2024 On3 Football Team Recruiting Rankings with a rating of 95.08. The Bulldogs aren't far behind this year either, as they are currently ranked No. 4 in the country.

Georgia has landed 22 commitments so far from the class of 2025, according to On3, and is set to land even more going forward. Three of these 22 commitments are from five-star prospects and the Bulldogs have also had 59% success in landing in-state prospects so far.

#3. LSU

LSU's class of 2025 has seen a jump of four spots from the previous year. The Tigers are currently ranked No. 3 in the 2025 On3 Football Team Recruiting Rankings. LSU has earned an overall rating of 93.23 so far, as per On3.

The Tigers have managed to land 3 five-star recruits from the class of 2025, including the best overall prospect from the class, quarterback Bryce Underwood. The Baton Rouge-based team has landed 25 commitments so far and is expected to acquire more in the upcoming weeks.

#2. Alabama

The Alabama Crimson Tide continued its stellar recruiting work from the previous year, and the program has managed to acquire the No. 2 spot on the 2025 On3 Football Team Recruiting Rankings. Alabama has a rating of 93.70 this year, which is almost equal to its rating from last year (94.14).

Kalen DeBoer and Co. have managed to land 21 commitments so far from the class, including 4 five-star prospects. Despite their great success in recruiting players from the class, the Crimson Tide has a dismal success rate of landing in-state prospects as they have managed to land only 14% of athletes from Alabama.

#1. Ohio State

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been the best recruiting team this year, as per On3 Football Team Recruiting Rankings. Ryan Day and his staff have managed to land 26 commitments so far, with four of them being five-star prospects.

The Buckeyes had a great class last year as well when they were ranked No. 4 in the country. However, they have improved significantly this year and have created a strong roster so far from the class of 2025, despite not having huge success in landing in-state prospects.
