Top 3 schools for four-star WR Devin Carter to the Class of 2026 ft. Alabama

Maliha

Four-star wide receiver Devin Carter from Douglas County High School in Georgia has received over 40 scholarship offers. On Thursday, he released a list of his top 11 schools, which features Ole Miss, Alabama, Louisville, Auburn, Texas, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, LSU and Texas A&M.

Notably absent from Carter's list of finalists is Florida State, the school he had previously committed to before backing off in January. It's not entirely surprising given Florida State's struggles this season, with a 1-8 record and several decommitments.

But it is more disheartening for the Seminoles, as Devin's father, Dexter Carter, was a running back at Florida State from 1986-1989 and went on to be a first-round pick in the 1990 NFL draft. Devin had long been expected to carry on the family legacy, which will not happen now.

However, let's see which three schools have the most potential to secure Devin Carter's commitment.

Top 3 programs vying for Devin Carter's commitment

#3. Louisville

Louisville offered Devin Carter in March, and he quickly visited for a spring practice before returning for the school's spring game.

"I really enjoyed getting there and seeing the progress they are making," Carter said (via Cardinal Authority). "Me and the coaches are focusing on our relationship and building those relationships, and they just always remind me that I'm a top priority to them."

Louisville has two committed players in the 2026 class, ranking linebacker Brady Ballart and interior offensive lineman Max Merz.

#2. LSU

LSU is another major contender for Devin Carter’s commitment. The Tigers will be hosting him this weekend for their game against Alabama, marking his third visit to Baton Rouge.

LSU's 2026 class ranks No. 8 in the nation and No. 4 in the Southeastern Conference with four committed players. The cycle features defensive lineman Richard Anderson, wide receiver Jakai Anderson, safety Aiden Hall and interior offensive lineman Jalan Chapman.

What may give LSU an edge is the fact that the program will also be hosting another top wide receiver prospect, Tristen Keys, for an official visit this weekend. If the school can manage to pull off an upset victory over Alabama, it could significantly improve its chances of landing both Keys and Carter.

#1. Alabama

Alabama is leading the race for Devin Carter's commitment with a 21.3% chance, according to On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. He was in attendance during the Crimson Tide's 42-16 victory over the USF Bulls on Sept. 7.

In an interview with Touchdown Alabama, Carter had heavy praise for Kalen DeBoer's program, saying:

"They are at the top of college football, and I believe they are where everybody wants to be."

Alabama secured a commitment from four-star interior defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland last month to its 2026 class. It also has four-star cornerback Dorian Barney in the cycle.
