Vernell Brown III landing spots: Top 4 college football teams for elite 2025 class WR ft. Florida
Wide receiver Vernell Brown III, from Orlando, Florida, has dreams of playing in the NFL. That is the prospect's end goal on the football field, and there are more that will come into his career before he makes his college decision on July 21.
Brown caught 70 passes for 1,363 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense while recording four times on special teams. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound WR is the No. 6 wide receiver, the No. 38 overall player nationally and the No. 4 prospect in Florida.
Let's see which four teams are most likely to earn Vernell Brown's commitment for the 2025 recruiting class.
Top 4 landing spots for Vernell Brown III
#4. Florida State
The Seminoles were the second program to offer Vernell Brown, and they had been high on him since then.
“Florida State has a great staff… I like what Coach Mike Norvell is doing," Brown said. "It is about the same with Miami. I love Coach Kevin Beard and where the program is going.”
FSU has less than a 1% chance of landing Brown's commitment, according to On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
#3. Miami
Brown enjoyed a multi-day official visit to Miami last month, along with wide receiver Jaime Ffrench.
"I thought with Miami, there was going to be a whole lot going on," Brown told On3. "But even though (the campus) is in Miami, it’s kind of secluded. It’s kind of its own little city. So I definitely think that visit was shocking.”
The Hurricanes have a 1.3% chance to earn Vernell Brown's pledge.
#2. Ohio State
Back in March, recruitment analyst Steve Wiltfong gave Ohio State the lone crystal ball prediction to secure Brown. He has taken multiple visits to Columbus, including an unofficial visit during Ohio State's victory over Michigan State last season and an official visit this summer.
"The visit was great," Brown told 247Sports. "My dad and I had seen a majority of the stuff before, so it was more so for my mom and siblings. Some of the highlights were spending more time with the players and staff. Also, the good food Columbus has to offer."
“Coach Brian Hartline and Ohio State produce receivers and develop guys at my position," Brown told On3. "It is that simple with Ohio State.”
The Buckeyes now have a 9.2% chance to land Brown.
#1. Florida
The Gators have emerged as the overwhelming favorite to secure Vernell Brown's commitment. His deep-rooted connections to the program are a major factor, with his father, Vernell Brown Jr., having played cornerback for the Gators. Even his grandfather, Vernell Sr., and great-uncle, Johnell Brown, also played for Florida.
Besides this prolonged connection, Brown was drawn to Florida's potential for developing receivers.
“I have those connections to Florida, so it starts there. I like Coach Billy Gonzales too and their development is proven, so they think I can be featured in that offense."
247Sports recruitment analyst Blake Alderman has already submitted a crystal ball pick for Brown in favor of the Gators, and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Florida an 87.8% chance of securing his commitment.
