Watch: Longhorns commit Dia Bell's mesmerizing TD run at American Heritage's historic win over St. Thomas Aquinas

American Heritage quarterback Dia Bell put on a show against in-state rival St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday. The Class of 2026 standout went 19 of 22 for 266 yards and three touchdowns and carried the ball eight times for 117 yards and a touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, Bell got a huge touchdown run that gave his team momentum. On the play, he was getting rushed and maneuvered around in the pocket, stepped up and then side-swiped a defender en route to the end zone on a 49-yard touchdown run as the crowd celebrated.

American Heritage vs. St. Thomas Aquinas

American Heritage beat St. Thomas Aquinas 42-38 dramatically in a game that featured big plays from both teams. It was the first time American Heritage defeated STA in its football program's history.

American Heritage (5-4), which is ranked seventh in the state of Florida and 33rd nationally by MaxPreps, has struggled this season, but its recent win is a highlight.

The school lost 32-27 in a valiant effort against Norland in their seventh game on Oct. 14. They bounced back with two consecutive wins over Archbishop McCarthy and St. Thomas Aquinas.

Dia Bell breakdown

Dia Bell is 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, and has good footwork, moving around the pocket well. He uses his quickness to evade defenders and make accurate throws. Although he can play in the pocket, he's also athletic enough to extend plays with his running.

Through nine games, Bell is 142 of 200 for 2,345 yards and 27 touchdowns to 4 interceptions. He's also carried the ball 58 times for 509 yards and four touchdowns.

Bell is a multisport athlete, excelling on the basketball court as well as the football field.

Dia Bell, a four-star prospect, is rated as the No. 4 QB in the country and the third-best player in Florida, while being ranked 22nd nationally all in the 2026 class by 247Sports. Although he has more than 35 offers from schools like Auburn, Arizona, Alabama and Arkansas, he's been committed to the Texas Longhorns since June.

Texas has done a good job of developing quarterbacks and Dia Bell could be the next great one to play for the Longhorns.
