“This is embarrassing” — Fans disappointed after crowd flocks to BTS RM & Taehyung’s discharge site, despite BIGHIT’s safety advisory

BTS' RM and Taehyung completed their military duties by dawn on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Both idols began their enlistment on December 11, 2023, completing an 18-month term in distinct army divisions.

RM carried out his duties with the 15th Infantry Division’s musical unit stationed in Hwacheon. He was seen leaving in uniform, holding a saxophone.

V fulfilled his role in the Special Duty Team (SDT) under the 2nd Corps Military Police in Chuncheon, a post reserved for personnel who meet high physical and tactical standards. He emerged carrying large floral arrangements.

Prior to their release, BIGHIT MUSIC, the group’s management label, issued a notice via their fan communication app Weverse on June 7, asking supporters to avoid visiting the discharge areas.

The announcement mentioned crowd control and public safety as key reasons. It also clarified that no organized gatherings would take place to mark the occasion.

"Please note that the discharge day is reserved for military personnel only. No special events are planned on the day of RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook's discharge. Each location has very limited space, and overcrowding can pose safety risks. We place the safety of our artists and fans as our top priority, and sincerely request our fans not to visit the sites in person," the agency penned on Weverse.

Regardless of the advisory, groups of fans assembled near the exits of both locations on the day of the discharge. Applause and cheers were heard as RM and V appeared.

Online platforms later saw mixed reactions, with some supporters concerned over the disregard for the safety request issued earlier.

"Has to be solosers coz oh my goodness. This is embarrassing," an X user commented.

The end of RM and V’s military commitment signals the gradual return of all BTS members to public activities, as Jimin and Jungkook are also expected to complete their service tomorrow. BIGHIT MUSIC has yet to announce the group’s next plans.

"So disappointed with these so-called fans. Man, they were contented and didn't even respected the request of the boys. How much more tomorrow. The fact that they wasted ambulances so that they can dispatched it in the place just to prevent any accidents during the event. +," a fan remarked.
"The fact that some of them kept hugging each other even after seeing RM and V just shows they came for their own wish — not to respect what BTS or BigHit had asked," a user mentioned.
"Most of them covering their faces, they know what they're doing," a person shared.

Some fans criticized the crowd that gathered outside the base, calling out individuals who previously urged BTS not to be disturbed during the service.

"Like frrrrr????! Imagine them getting out and the first thing they see is a bunch of people standing outside as if they didn't get on their knees to request them not to come!!!!," a netizen said.
"The way most of them are covered with hats/masks because they know what they’re doing is wrong and don’t want to be exposed yet they still show up 😬🥴," a viewer noted.
"The guys know the difference between ARMY and whatever the fuck these ppl are. The fact that so many are covering their faces with hoodies, hats etc tells you everything. Guarantee you it’s fan sites and solo fans who don’t give a sh*t about the person they supposedly care about," another fan added.

Supporters celebrate BTS Namjoon & Taehyung's comeback

Right after their discharge, fans celebrated BTS's RM and Taehyung's comeback. Vivid balloons were launched in open spaces as fans assembled to cheer the duo’s return to civilian status.

Online activity also surged. Hashtags like ##ReturnOfOurJooniverse, #WelcomeBackTaehyung, #D_DayToMeet_V, and many others trended worldwide. Fans across different countries began uploading content.

Many shared art, edited clips, and old memories. Platforms like X, Instagram, and Weverse saw high user engagement. Some added letters and short captions welcoming the members back.

Simultaneously, BTS' maknaes, Jungkook and Jimin, remain poised for release by June 11, 2025.
