3 Boston Bruins bounce-back candidates for the 2024-25 NHL season
The Boston Bruins made it to the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs but were eliminated by the eventual champions, the Florida Panthers.
Although Boston had success in the 2023-24 NHL season, some players had a down year. Ahead of the 2024-25 season, here are three bounceback candidates for the Bruins.
3 Boston Bruins bounce-back candidates for the 2024-25 NHL season
#1. Brad Marchand
Brad Marchand is the Boston Bruins' captain, but last season he had a bit of a disappointing season.
The Bruins offense was supposed to be led by David Pastrnak and Marchand. Pastrnak had a great season but Marchand struggled to produce much offense. The star forward had just 67 points which matched the previous year's point total, but he played in nine more games in 2023-24.
Marchand should be a 30-goal scorer and a 70-80-point player, especially if Boston is going to have success.
Marchand is a prime bounce-back candidate for the 2024-25 NHL season.
#2. Joonas Korpisalo
The Bruins acquired Joonas Korpisalo from the Ottawa Senators to be their backup goalie, and the way Boston played should make him a prime bounce-back candidate.
Korpisalo will be Boston's backup goalie which is a better spot for him, as the Bruins play much better defensively than Ottawa does.
Playing in a better system and fewer games should help Korpisalo have a lot more success after his disappointing year where he finished with a 3.27 GAA and a .890 SV%.
#3. Matthew Poitras
Matthew Poitras just completed his rookie season and he skated in 33 games recording 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points.
Poitras started strong but did hit the rookie wall, so after a full year in the NHL, he should have a better season in the 2024-25 NHL season.
Poitras is expected to be the Bruins' third-line center and should help play a better two-way game as there is less responsibility on him than there was last season.
