3 NHL stars who could still get traded ahead of 2024-25 season
The NHL offseason is nearly complete, as training camps and preseason is set to begin in a month. However, there are still some star players who have been the subject of trade rumors.
This offseason, there haven't been any superstar players dealt, but here are three players who could still get traded.
Three NHL stars who could still get traded ahead of 2024-25 season
#1 Trevor Zegras
Trevor Zegras has been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, but no deal has come to fruition yet.
Zegras isn't a fit in Anaheim anymore, and it does seem like he needs a change of scenery. The Ducks forward struggled with his health last season, as he skated in six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 31 games.
He would be sought after by a couple of NHL teams, as he's just 23 and has several good years ahead of him.
#2 Patrik Laine
Patrik Laine has requested a trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets, and it seems likely that he will be traded.
Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell has said that if he retains money on Laine, a deal would likely have already happened, but it's something he doesn't want to do.
“At this time of the year, people are less responsive,” Waddell told The Columbus Dispatch.
“So, I don’t really know. I think it’s going to play out for a while. ... We might end up eating some money. If I wanted to eat half, I could’ve traded him by now, but that’s not my first choice.”
However, it seems likely that Laine will be dealt this season and could happen as soon as this month.
#3 Frank Vatrano
Anaheim Ducks forward Frank Vatrano has also been in NHL trade discussions and could be dealt before the season starts.
The Ducks are rebuilding, and Vatrano could fetch some draft picks and prospects to help out the rebuild. There have been rumors that several teams have shown interest in him, and if one makes the right offer, the forward could be dealt anyday now.
