3 NHL teams entering their win-now window in 2024 ft. Nashville Predators

The Nashville Predators made a big signing by acquiring Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos this offseason in hopes of making a push for the Stanley Cup next season. After securing a playoff berth this season, the Predators were ultimately defeated 4-2 by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round, dashing their Stanley Cup hopes.

Given their play last season, the team is eager to bolster their roster ahead of the 2024-25 season. Of course, the Nashville Predators aren't the only team making a push for the Cup, with plenty of other teams around the league in 'win-now' mode for the season ahead.

Let's take a look at three teams who are in win-now mode for the 2024-25 season.

As previously mentioned, the Nashville Predators have made some solid offseason acquisitions with the aim of making a deep playoff run this season. Most notably, the team acquired Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault, both of whom will be under contract for several years.

Given that, it's no secret that the team is looking to capitalize on their success from last season, as well as their new acquisitions in the year ahead. Fortunately for the team, with several of their new standouts on long-term deals, their win-now window appears to be just beginning.

#2: New York Rangers

The New York Rangers had an impressive Playoff run last season, sweeping the Washington Capitals in the first round and then defeating the Hurricanes in six games.

As we saw in the Eastern Conference finals, it's clear that the Rangers are on the cusp of Stanley Cup contention. Despite that, it's clear that they have some holes they'll need to fill given their struggles against a physical team like the Predators last season.

With some minor tweaks, the Rangers can make their return to the Stanley Cup Finals, and the front office knows it. It's clear that they're in win-now mode as they look to capitalize on last season's success.

#1: Edmonton Oilers

After falling to the Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final, Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers are eager to build momentum next year. Given that much of their current roster is returning for next season, and Connor McDavid still has two years left on his deal, it's no secret that the team is looking to win now.

While they came up short against the Panthers, the 2023-24 season certainly fueled optimism in Edmonton, which has carried over into the offseason. As they look to bolster their roster for another Stanley Cup run next year, it's clear that with some minor tweaks, the Oilers can be right back in Stanley Cup contention.
