3 NHL teams that are one superstar trade away from making Stanley Cup push ft. New York Rangers
Winning the Stanley Cup is one of the hardest things in sports, especially without star players. The Florida Panthers just won it after trading for Matthew Tkachuk from the Calgary Flames two years ago.
The Vegas Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup two years ago, two seasons after acquiring superstar forward Jack Eichel. Although acquiring a star player doesn't guarantee teams a Stanley Cup it often improves their chances.
Here are three NHL teams who could be a superstar away from making a legitimate push for the Stanley Cup.
3 NHL teams a superstar away from the Stanley Cup
#1, New York Rangers
The New York Rangers were on the cusp of playing for the Stanley Cup but lost in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Florida Panthers.
If the Rangers can trade for a superstar forward or defenseman it would help solidify their roster. Jacob Trouba has been a popular name in trade rumors and is someone who could get traded to secure them a superstar player to help their case of winning the Stanley Cup that much better.
A forward like Nikolaj Ehlers from the Winnipeg Jets could make sense for the Rangers.
#2, Carolina Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes appear to have taken a step back from last season after losing several key players in free agency.
Although Carolina did sign Shayne Gostisbehere and Sean Walker to solidify their defense, losing Jake Guentzel was a major blow. If they can acquire a skilled forward like Mitch Marner, it would help solidify their offense and give them a real shot at winning the Stanley Cup.
#3, Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights have lost several key players in free agency after losing to the Dallas Stars in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The core group of the Golden Knights has taken a hit, but if Vegas can acquire Mitch Marner or a similar superstar forward it would help them become a legit Stanley Cup contender once again.
