5 NHL teams with shocking 0-3 starts to 2024-25 regular season feat. Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers made it to the Stanley Cup Final last season but were defeated by the Florida Panthers in Game 7.
As they entered the 2024-25 season, the Oilers were viewed as one of the top contenders for the championship. However, their initial results have shifted the momentum, as the Oilers have yet to secure a single win this season.
The Oilers, however, are not alone in their struggles; several other teams also share a 0-3 record to start the new season.
Here's a closer look at the five teams who have surprisingly started the season 0-3.
5 teams with 0-3 records to start the 2024-25 season
#1. Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers are currently at the bottom of the league with a 0-3-0 record and a -12 goal differential.
Their losses have come against the Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks and Calgary Flames. Interestingly, the Oilers had a similar rough start last season as well, before culminating their season in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.
#2. Colorado Avalanche
For the first time in 16 years, the Colorado Avalanche are sitting with a 0-3-0 record. They are positioned 31st in the league table.
The Avs have been defeated by the Vegas Golden Knights, Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders. Furthermore, the Avs have a -10 goal differential.
#3. Nashville Predators
The Nashville Predators are another winless team this season after their first three games. Their most recent defeat was against the Seattle Kraken, losing 7-3 at home.
In addition to the Kraken, the Detroit Red Wings and Dallas Stars are the other two teams that have emerged victorious against the Preds. They currently sit 30th in the league standings with a -8 goal differential.
#4. Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks are another team that's had a rough start to the season. The club is currently 28th in the league standings with a 0-1-2 record and a -5 goal differential.
They've been defeated by the Philadelphia Flyers (SO), Calgary Flames (OT) and most recently the Tampa Bay Lightning.
#5. San Jose Sharks
The San Jose Sharks' position looks much improved at the start of the season compared to the previous one, where they finished at the bottom of the league.
However, sitting at 27th, the Sharks are still looking for their first win, with a 0-1-2 record and a -4 goal differential. They've been defeated by the Vegas Golden Knights, Anaheim Ducks and St. Louis Blues so far this season.
