Boston Bruins' top 3 prospects to watch out for in 2024/25 season

Last season, the Boston Bruins made it to the semifinals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs before falling to the Florida Panthers in a six-game series. After falling short of their goal, the team's front office went to work this offseason. They bolstered the Bruins roster for what they hoped would be a better 2024/25 season.

The team notably acquired defenceman Nikita Zadorov, and they picked Dean Letourneau with the 25th pick in this year's NHL draft. At the same time, the team has had prospects who have continued to develop and are poised to make an impact on the team.

In addition to players like Beckett Hendrickson and budding prospect Georgii Merkulov who are expected to continue to develop, the Bruins have some standout prospects fans should watch out for this season.

Top three Boston Bruins prospects to watch out for this season

#1: Jonathan Morello - C

As one of the youngest Boston Bruins prospects, Jonathan Morello is one to watch this season. The center has continued to impress in the OJHL, improving from 40 points in the 2022/23 season to 57 points in the 2023/24 season in the OJHL.

While he's likely to need a few more years before becoming a staple of the Bruins' roster, look for Morello to make waves in the USHL this season, where he'll play for the Dubuque Fighting Saints. He will transition to college with Clarkson University the following year.

#2: Philip Svedeback - G

As part of this summer's Linus Ullmark trade, the Boston Bruins acquired Joonas Korpisalo, who is expected to be the team's secondary netminder this season. Despite that, Philip Svedeback is a prospect fans should watch out for.

Over the past two years, while playing NCAA hockey for Providence College, Svedeback has posted a 90-plus save percentage in back-to-back years. Given the team's goaltender situation, it may take another year or two for Svedeback to become a mainstay in net; however, he'll be one to keep an eye on.

#1: Dean Letourneau - C

This summer, the Boston Bruins used the first-round pick acquired in the Linus Ullmark trade to select center Dean Letourneau. Letourneau is fresh off a dominant 56-game season with St. Andrew's College A team, where he played U18 AAA hockey.

Over 56 games, Letourneau logged a whopping 127 points with 61 goals and 66 assists. This season, he's set to play for Boston College, where he's sure to draw plenty of attention. Despite Letourneau being far from a key contributor for Boston, he's one of the Bruins' prospects fans should watch.
