Brad Marchand and wife Katrina attend Bruins centennial legacy monument unveiling ceremony
Earlier this month, Bruins captain Brad Marchand and his wife Katrina attended the Bruins’ centennial weekend celebrating 100 years of Bruins hockey. The couple joined fans, hockey legends and local dignitaries at Portal Park outside TD Garden for the unveiling of a six-foot-tall bronze statue of the Boston Bruin.
Katrina Marchand shared highlights from the event on Instagram, including clips of speeches and photos featuring Bruins greats Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, and Ray Bourque. Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu were also present.
During the ceremony, Brad Marchand delivered a heartfelt speech, thanking the Jacobs family, longtime owners of the team, for their vision and dedication. He praised the fans, saying:
“There’s no feeling like skating out onto the ice and feeling the energy of Bruins Nation.”
Marchand also promised to honor the legacy of past Bruins legends and lead his team with commitment and pride as captain.
The statue was designed by renowned sculptor Harry Weber, who also created the iconic Bobby Orr statue in 2010. It consists of 90 bronze pieces, weighs 3,500 pounds, and is a symbol of the team’s legacy as the first NHL franchise based in the United States.
