Connor Bedard is a professional Canadian ice hockey center, currently playing with the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League. Bedard is considered as one of the youngest and talented players in the NHL. He was selected by the Blackhawks as the first overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry draft and debuted in the same year. He was born on July 17, 2005, to parents Tom and Melanie in North Vancouver, British Columbia along with his sister Madi. Bedard's great-grand uncle James Bedard was in the NHL and also played for a short time with the Chicago Blackhawks between 1949 to 1951.

The Chicago Blackhawks selected Connor Bedard as the first overall pick on June 28, 2023, and he became the second player in the Blackhawk's history to be selected as the first overall pick after Kane Patrick in 2007. He also became the second British Columbia player to achieve this honor after Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who was chosen as first overall in 2001.
He signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blackhawks on his 18th birthday July 17, 2023. He debuted on October 10, and contributed one point, an assist against the Pittsburgh Penguins and achieved victory. He continued to shine, in the next game on October 11, he scored his first NHL goal. However, the Blackhawks lost against the Boston Bruins with a final score of 3-1.
