
Jake Oettinger, also known as "Otter" and "Phenomenotter", is a goaltender for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL), as of May 2025. He was selected as the 26th overall pick by the Dallas Stars in the 2017 NHL entry draft. He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Stars on March 25, 2019. He made his NHL debut for the Stars in a clash against the Vegas Golden Knights on September 8, 2020.
Growing up, Oettinger attended Lakeville North High School and later committed to the USA National Team Development Program (USNTDP) to pursue a career in ice hockey. After playing two seasons at USNTDP, he committed to Boston University. During his freshman season at Boston, he posted a 2.11 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. He was also named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team in 2017.
