Los Angeles Kings' top 3 prospects to watch out for in 2024/25 season

In recent years, the Los Angeles Kings have been giving young standouts and budding young prospects time to develop rather than trying to rush things along. At the same time, the team has remained competitive, reaching the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season after finishing third in the Pacific Division.

The team's front office has set its sights on making a strong run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. GM Robert Blake acquired players like Joel Edmundson who will be immediate difference-makers for the franchise.

At the same time, the team notably lost several notable contributors such as Matt Roy. It has thus opened the door for several prospects to make waves in the season ahead.

Top three Los Angeles Kings prospects to keep an eye out for in the 2024-25 season

#1: Liam Greentree - RW

Liam Greentree will need more time to develop before he becomes a permanent name on the Los Angeles Kings roster. However, fans should keep an eye on the budding young star. With poise beyond his years and plenty of talent to match, Greentree has all the makings of a future star.

Last season, Greentree logged a whopping 90 points over 64 games in the OHL. He also played an integral role in Canada winning gold at the World U18 Championships. After being selected by the Kings with the 26th pick of this year's NHL draft, it is only a matter of time before Greentree finds his way into coach Jim Hiller's rotations.

#2: Brandt Clarke - D

Last season, former No. 8 overall pick Brandt Clarke got to play with the Los Angeles Kings for 16 games after spending time in the AHL and the OHL. He logged six points over 16 games with the Kings, following a 50-game stint with the Ontario Reign, where he logged 46 points.

Given his play last season with the Kings, expect Clarke to be a staple of the team's defensive lines this season.

#3: Martin Chromiak - RW

Martin Chromiak's stats last season may not jump off the page. However, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about his development. Picked in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Chromiak will likely play another year in the AHL. However, he's likely to get playing time with the Kings too.

Last season, Chromiak logged 32 points in 70 games with the Ontario Reign. Before that, he logged 86 points in 60 games with the Kingston Frontenacs during the 2021-22 season in the OHL. While his AHL numbers don't match up, Chromiak could get a chance this season to prove himself in the NHL
