"13 looks good on you": Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith reacts to ex-Blue Jacket Derek Dorsett's son Dylan rocking No. 13 jersey in lacrosse game
Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew’s untimely passing left the hockey community in grief, who have found ways to honor the legacy of the late NHL stars. Former Columbus Blue Jackets forward Derek Dorsett’s son Dylan paid one such special tribute to Johnny.
On Saturday, Meredith Gaudreau, the widow of Johnny Gaudreau, reshared a story from Derek Corsett’s wife Ali’s Instagram account. It features Dorsett’s son Dylan wearing a Golden Bears lacrosse jersey with the number 13.
The picture was originally shared by Ryan Humbert, who appears to be a family friend of the Dorsetts.
“Proud of this guy! Got to watch him score a bunch of goals today!” Humbert had captioned the picture.
Ali Dorsett then reshared the story on her own Instagram account and tagged Meredith, noting that her son is wearing the No. 13 in honor of the late Johnny Gaudreau.
“#13 for Johnny @meredithgaudreau”, Ali wrote with a yellow heart emoji.
Meredith Gaudreau expressed her appreciation for Dylan and sent her love to the youngster. Reposting it on her Instagram story, Meredith wrote:
“Love you Dylan! 13 looks good on you" with two yellow heart emojis
Earlier, Erik Gudbranson's wife Sarah shared pictures of their children Bennett and Zoey wearing custom-made sweaters featuring Johnny Gaudreau’s iconic No. 13. Erik’s sister, Lauryn Gudbranson, had gifted those special jerseys. The gesture moved Meredith Gaudreau, who reshared Sarah’s post and expressed her love for the Gudbranson children.
Johnny Gaudreau’s wife Meredith pens words of gratitude for Sean Monahan
Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau were very close friends and Monahan has paid a very special tribute to his late friend by engraving Johnny’s initials on his hockey stick.
This week, Meredith Gaudreau shared a heartfelt message for Sean Monahan, praising him as her husband’s “role model and best friend.” Meredith posted an image of Monahan’s hockey stick which had “JG” etched on it in memory of Johnny. Monahan has dedicated every stick he uses to his friend by writing his initials.
"Love you Muncy. John's role model and best friend. His brother, they were absolute butt buddies,” Meredith wrote on her Instagram story.
Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, lost their lives in a biking accident on August 29 in New Jersey. Since the tragedy, Monahan has stayed close to Meredith and her family, even holding baby Johnny in a photo that Meredith posted on Oct. 14.
