$57.5M Brady Tkachuk finally addresses Ottawa Senators trade rumors
Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk was at the center of trade speculation a few months ago. Numerous reports came out claiming that he was looking to leave the organization.
Nevertheless, in response to these rumors, Sens GM Steve Staios earlier dismissed all talk of Tkachuk seeking a trade as "complete B.S".
Moreover, he emphasized that the team's foundation revolves around Tkachuk, highlighting the Sens' strong belief in his leadership. Staios expressed the organization's clear goal of striving to secure the coveted Stanley Cup for the city with Brady Tkachuk at the helm.
During a recent edition of the "Locked On Senators" podcast, with Ross Levitan and Brandon Piller, the Senators captain delved into his offseason activities and unequivocally addressed and shut down the swirling rumors surrounding trade out of Ottawa.
Tkachuk made it clear what his intentions are for next season:
"These rumors are coming out of nowhere. My number one goal is to bring a Stanley Cup back to Ottawa."
This assertion from Brady Tkachuk underscores his unwavering loyalty to the team and the city. Tkachuk is currently inked to a seven-year, $57.5 million contract signed with the Sens in 2021. He will become a UFA at the end of the 2027-28 season.

Tkachuk also shared some insights on the impact of adding players with playoff experience during the offseason.
He expressed his eagerness to learn and improve, emphasizing the benefit of having teammates with diverse experiences like David Perron and Michael Amadio, who both have won the Stanley Cup, and Linus Ullmark who can contribute various perspectives and mentalities to the team (via The Hockey Writers):
“I have a lot of areas I can grow and get better, and with guys like [David] Perron and [Michael] Amadio I can lean on, and of course with [Noah] Gregor, [Nick] Jensen and [Linus] Ullmark who have had great careers so far, that brings so many different experiences and thought mentalities to the team,” Tkachuk said.
Brady Tkachuk was drafted with the No. 4 overall pick by the Ottawa Senators in the 2018 NHL draft. The Scottsdale, Arizona native has been with the club for the past six seasons. Notably, Tkachuk has yet to play in a playoff game with the club.
