$76M Nikita Kucherov talks how Bolts' leadership will adapt after Steven Stamkos' exit

Nikita Kucherov is taking on a key role for the Tampa Bay Lightning as they adapt to life without Steven Stamkos. Kucherov is on an eight-year contract worth $76 million and knows the team faces challenges ahead and is focused on leadership.

Stamkos, who played 16 seasons with the Lightning, has joined the Nashville Predators. His departure marks a big change for the team. Stamkos leaves behind impressive records for points, goals and games played. Kucherov understands that Stamkos' leadership will be missed but believes the team can come together.

“It is hard to replace a guy like him,” Kucherov said.

He even stressed that everyone must step up both on and off the ice.

“Everyone has to step up on the ice and off the ice and do everything we can to help the team win and ultimately win the Cup.”

This attitude will be important as the Lightning get ready for the new season. With training camp starting, Victor Hedman is now the captain. This change in leadership is important for the Lightning as they try to keep winning.

Kucherov is confident in his teammates and their bond. He also praised goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, who's back after injuries last season. Nikita Kucherov noted Vasilevskiy’s positive attitude and the need to stay healthy.

"No, I think he is always happy. Being healthy is huge. I am 31, and he is 30, and it is important to take care of our bodies. It is huge to not have to deal with injuries and stuff, but Vasy is always happy."

The Lightning understand they face a big challenge, but Nikita Kucherov’s commitment shows their desire to remain competitive. Stamkos’ absence is a key focus as the new season begins, pointing to the importance of teamwork, but Kucherov trusts in the team’s ability to handle these difficulties.
