Alex Tuch’s wife Kylie has two-word reaction to Shea Theodore’s $51.98M contract extension with Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights have signed defenseman Shea Theodore to a seven-year contract extension worth $51.98 million. The contract carries an AAV of $7.425 million per year. The team announced the deal in a post featuring Theodore’s photo and the text “SIGNED Shea Theodore” and “Seven-Year Extension."
Their caption read:
“SHEA IS HERE TO STAY!!!!!!!.”
Kylie Tuch, wife of former Golden Knight Alex Tuch, responded simply with “the best” and heart emojis. Her reaction reflects the strong connections between Tuch and Theodore, who were part of the Golden Knights.
Theodore, now 29, is in his eighth season with the Golden Knights. So far, he’s scored seven points in six games, ranking him fourth in scoring among NHL defensemen this season. Last season, Theodore scored at his best pace yet, with 42 points in 47 games, averaging 0.89 points per game.
Since joining the team in 2017, Theodore has become the franchise’s top-scoring defenseman. He has 296 points in 450 games and a +65 rating. He was also key in the team’s 2023 Stanley Cup win, scoring 13 points in 21 playoff games.
Beyond the NHL, Theodore has represented Canada internationally, winning a silver medal at the 2019 IIHF World Championship. Originally drafted by Anaheim in 2013, he joined Vegas in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft.
Golden Knights dominates the Kings in Shea Theodore's absence
The Vegas Golden Knights dominated the Los Angeles Kings in a 6-1 win at T-Mobile Arena. Tomas Hertl led Vegas with two goals and two assists, helping the team bounce back from a three-game losing streak. Coach Bruce Cassidy praised Hertl for his improved offense, saying, per NHL.com,
“He knew that he needed to bring a little more offense.”
Mark Stone had a goal and two assists, while Alex Pietrangelo added three assists. Ilya Samsonov made 32 saves in goal. Hertl opened the scoring with a power-play goal in the first period, and Stone followed with another power-play goal. Pavel Dorofeyev quickly added a third goal to build a 3-0 lead. Warren Foegele scored for the Kings in the second period, but Vegas responded with three more goals from Alexander Holtz, Hertl, and Ivan Barbashev.
Vegas controlled the game, they had 35 shots on goal compared to the Kings’ 30 and won 64% of face-offs. Vegas scored on both of their power plays, while Los Angeles went 0-for-4.
Shea Theodore missed Tuesday's win over LA due to illness. But he took part in Wednesday's optional skate. He is expected to play against the Ottawa Senators on Friday.
