'Always be my wedding date' - Johnny Gaudreau's widow Meredith reminisces couple's time at the Hanifins' wedding
Late NHL player Johnny Gaudreau and his wife Meredith were among the guests at Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Noah Hanifin's wedding, that took place in August. Noah's wife, Monique, shared a few special moments from their wedding on her Instagram story in honor of Johnny Gaudreau.
On Thursday, Meredith Gaudreau reposted a photo originally shared by Monique Hanifin on her Instagram story. The picture, taken at the Hanifins' wedding, saw Johnny Gaudreau raising the toast with other guests. Monique captioned the original post, writing:
"A man with a heart of gold and life of the party."
While reposting, Meredith added her own caption:
“Always be my wedding date.”
In another reposted story from the Hanifin’s wedding after-party, Meredith wrote:
“You'll never catch him with a beer in his right hand.”
Monique originally captioned the post as:
“His favorite girls. We miss you,” with a white heart emoji.
The Hanifins' wedding took place on Aug. 10, 2024 at Gardiner House in Newport, Rhode Island, just weeks before the tragic accident that claimed Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau's lives. Johnny and his brother were hit by a suspected drunk truck driver while they were cycling in Salem County.
Johnny Gaudreau's wife and children attend Blue Jackets KIDS opening night
Last weekend, Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith and their children, Noa and Johnny, walked the blue carpet at Nationwide Arena for the Columbus Blue Jackets’ KIDS Opening Night, presented by COSI. The event was to celebrate the youngest members of the Blue Jackets' fanbase, known as the 5th Line.
Children were invited to line the special “blue carpet” to greet Blue Jackets players and special guests, which included children from local youth organizations and Stinger, the Blue Jackets’ mascot, along with other Ohio sports mascots.
The event featured family-friendly entertainment like face painting, balloon artists, games, and live music. The first 5,000 kids to enter the arena received CBJ Kids Tech Tattoos.
Inside the arena, the fun continued with a pre-game ceremony, and fans were encouraged to be seated by 7 p.m. for player introductions. Unfortunately for Blue Jackets fans, the night ended in a 3-1 loss to the Wild.
Minnesota’s Marco Rossi opened the scoring in the first period, followed by Kirill Kaprizov’s power-play goal in the third, and Mats Zuccarello’s late tally. Yegor Chinakhov scored the lone goal for Columbus, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.
