Biz makes his feelings extremely clear on Sean Avery possibly becoming next NY Rangers GM

It has all gone downhill for the New York Rangers this season after winning the President's Trophy in 2023-24. They are 3-11 in their last 14 games and had embarrassing defeats during the stretch, including a 2-0 loss on Tuesday to the Nashville Predators who have the worst record in the league.

This has prompted rumors that New York has lost confidence in its general manager, Chris Drury. Rumors of possible replacements have also emerged if the front office executive is let go. The latest name to be included is former Rangers winger Sean Avery.

As per Paul Bissonnette on Barstool Sports' "Spitting Chiclets" podcast, Avery, who is a passionate fan of the Rangers, has flown to New York to personally meet with team owner James Dolan.

"I'm also hearing rumblings that Sean Avery is going over to NYC to meet with James Dolan to talk about the state of the New York Rangers," Bissonnette said on Tuesday. "There is a crazy element to James Dolan that my content dream might get rid of Drury and hire Sean Avery as the next general manager of the New York Rangers."

Bissonnette seems to be particularly invested in Avery taking over as per his post on X. He said that hockey "deserves" Avery.

"Hockey deserves this. Make it happen James. Can the New York Headline Hogs get it done??? 🐗 #NYR," Bissonette tweeted.

Avery played six seasons with the New York Rangers in two different stints. He will be an inexperienced option to replace Drury, but he is known to be unapologetic and vocal. While the Rangers might need someone like him, his personal life and off-ice problems might cause concern for the PR department.

Chris Drury's mishap has been his treatment of players

Before the 14-game stretch, the Rangers had one of the best records in the league going 12-4-1 in their first 17. However, once the slip started, there was no stopping it.

Chris Drury's actions during this tumultuous time haven't helped his cause. The team traded their captain, Jacob Trouba, to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Urho Vaakanaainen. Trouba had been rumored to be on the trade block throughout the offseason. Eventually, he was made to choose between getting scratched, put on waivers or traded to another club.

This is one of the primary reasons why the players in the Rangers clubhouse might not have confidence in him. Drury moving away from the club could bring change and fresh faces, something that Rangers coach Peter Laviolette needs to turn the tide.
