Brad Marchand celebrates hitting 1000-game milestone with friends and family at scenic Wyoming resort
On Friday, Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand celebrated hitting 1000 NHL games in his career. Picked by the team 71st overall in the third round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Marchand has come a long way. He was named 'Captain' by the organization and successfully led his team to playoffs.
Marchand played his 1000th game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Feb. 13th, which the Lightning won 3-2 in the shootout. Marchand had two assists in that game.
Marchand celebrated the achievement in a Wyoming resort in the United States, and his wife, Katrina Sloane, shared pictures of the celebration on Instagram. Sloane shared a snap of a hanging sign in the resort that read:
"CONGRATULATIONS 63 BRAD 1000 GAMES IN THE NHL."
She also shared a picture of Brad Marchand walking with a drink in his hand and his daughter on his shoulders.
In one picture, Marchand was seen alongside his male group in Wyoming. Sloane captioned the picture:
"The Boys".
Sloane shared a picture of horses running in a herd from Wyoming. Several people were standing at a distance watching the horses pass by.
"Running of the horses with our morning coffee," Sloane captioned the picture.
Brad Marchand was named one of the Best NHL captains
Hockey reporter Stan Fischler listed the 12 best NHL captains, and Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins was one of them. The list also included stars like Connor McDavid, Aleksander Barkov, Sidney Crosby, Quinn Hughes and Roman Josi.
Like Lindsay, Marchand never allows his relatively small physique (5-foot-9, 176 pounds) deter him from playing a hard-nosed game," Fischler wrote.
This recognition places Marchand among the top NHL captains today. Marchand scored 29 goals, tied for 48th place last season. He had 38 assists, tying him for 78th place. His total of 67 points put him in a tie for 62nd overall. His plus/minus rating was +2, ranking him 150th or higher.
