Brad Marchand makes his feelings known about social media fallout over Jim Montgomery argument
Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand addressed the social media reaction following his argument with coach Jim Montgomery. The incident occurred during Boston’s 2-1 overtime loss to Utah, where Marchand’s turnover led to a temporary goal, causing Montgomery to yell at him and give him a nudge.
Marchand was surprised by the online attention. He said:
"People were making a big deal out of it. Yeah. I mean, people are very, very sensitive these days. And you know, there's, there's a lot of, you know, it's unfortunate how coaches are scrutinized over things like that."
Brad Marchand added that players should be held accountable for mistakes.
"There's a lack accountability nowadays because, you know, people can't handle the heat, and you make a mistake like that, you deserve to hear about it." Marchand said, "You know, I'm glad that he said something about it. If he didn't, we would have much bigger issues. So you know that fact that that's something that we're talking about is disappointing, but that's the way things are to go."
Brad Marchand added that not addressing the issue would have been a bigger problem for the team.

Jim Montgomery also downplayed the situation, saying both have moved on from it. The Bruins are focusing on improving after a rough start.
"Him and I are both emotional people." Montgomery said Thursday per CBS. "I'm not ecstatic with myself about it, but I don't think about it afterwards and neither does he," said Montgomery. "He's a pro, a great player that does so many good things for us, and he has high expectations as well. For us, that is over and done with."

Jim Montgomery's assessment of the Boston Bruins
In the Boston Bruins' overtime loss to Utah Hockey Club on Saturday, Cole Koepke scored their only goal in the second period. This gave the Bruins a brief 1-0 lead. However, they struggled to keep their momentum during the game.
Montgomery complained that the team started slowly.
“I thought they started faster than us,” Montgomery said per NHL.com. “I thought they were more determined than we were, they were more relentless. I didn't think we managed pucks very well because of their sticks.”
Boston Bruins had a chance to extend their lead on a power play but failed to score. A possible second goal was canceled after a review for offside. The Bruins now have a record of 3-3-1 after another 4-0 loss to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.
