Brady Tkachuk's sister Taryn drops one-word reaction to his OT game-winner for Senators
Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk fired in the overtime game-winner as the Senators edged the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 on Saturday night. Tkachuk’s sister, Taryn, was at the arena as Ottawa secured a third consecutive victory for the first time this season.
In the teams' fourth straight overtime matchup in Ottawa, Tkachuk sealed the win by receiving a stretch pass from Jake Sanderson. The Senators captain toe-dragged past defenseman Erik Karlsson and slotted his 15th goal of the season past Pittsburgh goaltender Tristan Jarry.
Taryn was quick to react to her brother’s OT winner, sharing a clip of Brady's goal posted by the Senators’ official Instagram account.
“King,” she wrote with two sparkle emojis.
Thomas Chabot had a goal and an assist on the night, and Drake Batherson added his 13th goal for Ottawa, which has now gone 5-1-1 in its last seven games. For Pittsburgh, Blake Lizotte scored his fifth goal in nine games, and Kris Letang also found the back of the net.
Brady Tkachuk claims the Senators are playing with a sense of identity
During the post-game interview, the Ottawa Senators captain opened up on the win and claimed that they are playing well because they’re sticking to their identity. Brady Tkachuk mentioned the importance of working hard as a team and how they’ve learned to bounce back from tough times earlier in the season by staying strong under pressure.
“We're playing to our identity,” Tkachuk said. “We're playing for each other. If we keep doing it, the results are going to keep coming.”
Brady also noted that the team's confidence has increased, and now each player is rising to the occasion and making an impact.
“I think it's confidence. I think it starts from top to bottom. Everybody's confident and wants to puck and wants to make a difference, and I think that's when you kind of have that individual drive to be at your best and do whatever it takes.”
“It just gradually is contagious for everybody, and it just builds into something that it's kind of showing right now that everybody's doing it, everybody's committed to it, and it's always fun winning,” Tkachuk added.
When asked about his overtime goal, Brady Tkachuk gave credit to his teammates Jake Sanderson and Tim Stützle for making the play happen. He also praised goalie Lukas Omark for making big saves when needed and giving the team a lot of confidence.
