Bruins HC lifts the shroud around Jeremy Swayman's future amid lengthy extension talks
Boston Bruins coach Jim Montgomery recently addressed the situation surrounding goaltender Jeremy Swayman as training camp approaches.
The Bruins HC said he's not involved in the contract negotiations and that he has nothing to do with the contract situation.
Jim Montgomery said on Friday(via Score):
"My job is my connection with the players, and how we're going to be good this year. And I have no doubt Jeremy Swayman will be a Bruin at the start of camp, and we'll be ready to go."
Jeremy Swayman and the Bruins reached an agreement on a one-year contract through arbitration in 2023. However, following the arbitration hearing, the 25-year-old netminder voiced his dissatisfaction with the entire process, expressing that it was an experience he "never wants to do again."
Despite his frustrations with arbitration, Swayman clarified that he holds no negative feelings towards the Bruins organization. Swayman currently remains the only restricted free agent for the Bruins.
Bruins president addresses Jeremy Swayman's contract situation
The Boston Bruins president Cam Neely addressed the ongoing contract negotiations with goaltender Swayman on Thursday. Neely recognized the impatience of the fan base, who would prefer to see a resolution sooner rather than later.
However, Neely remains confident that both Jeremy Swayman and the club will come to a mutually beneficial agreement soon (via Score):
"Something will get done. There's no question," Neely said Thursday. "I mean, not every negotiation is as smooth as you'd like it. I know our fan base would certainly love to have something done by now. But I'm fully confident that both sides will come to an agreement before too long here."
Swaman posted a 25-10-8 record with the Bruins last season in 44 games with a GAA of 2.53 and a.916 save percentage. With Linus Ullmark joining the Ottawa Senators, the team expects Swayman to be their starting goalie for the upcoming season.
With the training camp set to begin next month, the Bruins will hope to finalize a new contract for Swayman before then. He was drafted No. 111 overall by the Bruins in the 2017 NHL draft.
