Bruins' Jeremy Swayman trades pads for guitar, joins Dalton & the Sheriffs on stage for epic cameo
Boston Bruins' Jeremy Swayman has a lot of responsibilities to take on in the upcoming 2024-25 season. In July last week, the Bruins traded Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators for Joonas Korpisalo, Mark Kastelic, and a 2024 first-round NHL Draft pick. Ullmark previously shared goaltending duties with Swayman, but this season, he will be Bruin's main goalie.
Despite the pressure, he is keeping his nerves in control with music. This week, he was seen sharing a stage with musician Jay Tagg and his band Dalton & the Sheriffs. Tagg shared a video on his Instagram story and tagged Swayman. Swayman reshared the story and wrote, "Twist my arm."
In the video, Swayman was playing a guitar with Dalton & the Sheriffs. They were performing the song "Zombie" by Irish band The Cranberries. The song was released in 1994, and it was written by Dolores O'Riordan. She wrote it for the young victims of a bombing in Warrington, England, during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Despite not charting on the U.S. Billboard, the song is globally popular for its unique rhythm and vocals.
Swayman was enjoying his cameo to the fullest, tapping his feet as he strummed the guitar. Fans will remember and talk about this for years to come.
Jeremy Swayman remains without a contract extension with Bruins
Swayman remains without a contract extension with only a month left in the Boston Bruins training camp, but he isn’t worried about his situation.
The Bruins have over $9 million in cap space, giving them room to sign Swayman to a multiyear deal. Swayman is confident the negotiations will work out and is focussed on improving for the upcoming season. During an interview on NESN with Jimmy Fund Radio, Swayman explained his perspective.
"There’s a lot of confidence,” Swayman said on Wednesday. “And I say that because I’ve treated it like business as usual this year. I’ve been at Warrior, I’ve been working out with our guys, our staff, our players. And I know that there’s something special building in this locker room this year, and I can’t be more excited about that."
Though he hasn't completed a full season as the No. 1 goalie, Swayman is expected to do so in 2024-25 after Linus Ullmark's trade to Ottawa. His strong performance in the 2023-24 postseason, with a .933 save percentage, has boosted his value. Former Bruins goalie Andrew Raycroft reassured fans that the lack of a contract isn't concerning.
