Connor McDavid opens up on Oilers' dressing room morale ahead of Game 4 against Stars
The Edmonton Oilers endured a shocking collapse in Game 3, but Connor McDavid is confident that his team will be able to bounce back in Game 4. That made two straight losses after an overtime win on a McDavid goal in Game 1.
Nevertheless, the captain is certain that his squad is equipped to handle the adversity, and they'll show that resolve in their next outing.
“The group responds well," he said. "There’s a belief in our room that we can respond to situations like this. I know it’ll be the same tonight.”
One thing that McDavid knows has been lacking is power-play success. They have tried to focus on Evan Bouchard and Leon Draisatl, but the Dallas Stars have done a good job negating their plan.
“They’re a good kill,” McDavid said. “They’re aggressive up ice and make it hard to enter (the offensive zone). And when you do get in, it’s tough to get set up to make them slow down."
McDavid acknowledged Dallas' plan but said that his team just has to bear down and get themselves back in the series. That includes defenseman Darnell Nurse, who is -10 during this playoff run.
Connor McDavid believes in everyone in the locker room, including Nurse:
“He’s a big part of our room. Plus-minus can be a funny stat. But he’s been important for us for a long time. I would expect him to have a great one tonight.”
The Oilers will try to even the series back up when they tip off at 8:30 pm EST at home.
Odds of Connor McDavid's team leveling the series
The Edmonton Oilers often go the way of Connor McDavid. He is their leader and one of their best players. If he plays well, they have a chance to win. They will need that tonight.
The Oilers are -134 to win at home and even in the series. The puck line also favors them by 1.5 goals.
Both these teams are unbeaten in Game 4 this postseason, though. Tonight, something will have to give and one team will do something they've not done yet in 2024.
