Connor McDavid's wife Lauren discloses reason behind selecting historic 115-year-old Edmonton building for her new business venture
Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid’s wife Lauren is working to set up her new business in downtown Edmonton. She has chosen the Canada Permanent Building as the location for her restaurant and furniture business, Bar Trove and Trove Living.
The bar will be on the first floor of the space, while the furniture showroom will be on the second. In an interview with CBC, Lauren Kyle disclosed why she chose the 115-year-old historic building for her new initiative.
“I had not really known too much about this building until we found it and realized that it was still available and learning about the rich history of it was super exciting and it just fit the concept so well. It has a lot of character and a lot of personality and that is what we're trying,” she said.
Lauren explained that the furniture showroom will feature eight to 10 carefully designed setups that feel like small, realistic rooms. This will help customers imagine how the furniture could look in their homes.
“We really wanted to design the space so it felt like a very intentional, well-designed vignettes of different living spaces. We just want every section to feel like its own little room so you can really visualize what the pieces would look like in your own home,” she added.
Lauren Kyle also shared that she and her team are excited to bring something unique to Edmonton with their combined furniture showroom and bar. With their vision and plans for the space, they want to create a unique experience for the city. Previously, she mentioned that they are eyeing an early April launch for Bar Trove and Trove Living.
Connor McDavid and Connor Brown celebrate their birthdays together
Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid and forward Connor Brown celebrated their birthdays together with a joint party. McDavid turned 28 on Jan. 13, while Brown celebrated his 31st birthday on Jan. 14.
Lauren Kyle shared a couple of snaps from their small celebration on her Instagram stories. The cake was decorated with edible images of the two players from their OHL days with the Erie Otters and other career moments.
It had blue frosting and gold accents paired with a box of colorful macarons tied with a cream ribbon. The party decorations included black metallic balloons spelling “HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONNORS” behind the cake table. Lauren also tagged Brown’s wife, Madison Brown, in the stories she later reposted on her own account.
