"Cutest face, cutest voice": Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith reminisces about young Johnny's interview at Boston College
Late NHL player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew’s untimely death in late August shocked the entire hockey community. However, the family remains strong in their memory, and Johnny's widow, Meredith Gaudreau, continues to pay tributes to her late husband from time to time.
On Tuesday, Meredith shared a fan account's heartwarming post with clips from a documentary from Johnny's days at Boston College. In the caption, she wrote an emotional message in memory of her beloved husband:
“Cutest face, cutest voice. More in love with you every day.”
The video featured coaches and trainers praising Johnny for both his skills as a player and his character as a person. It also showed Johnny discussing his aspirations and goals during his final year at Boston.
Boston College is set to honor Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, along with Tony Voce, during the current season to commemorate their legacy. As a tribute, the Eagles will wear patches featuring their initials on their jerseys. A moment of silence and a video tribute are also planned for their home opener.
During the Hockey East opener against Maine, the team will wear jerseys honoring the Gaudreaus and Voce during warmups. The trophy case at Conte Forum has been updated to honor their contributions to the college hockey program.
Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith pens heartfelt message for Brad Richardson
Earlier on Monday, Meredith expressed her gratitude to former NHL player Brad Richardson for his touching tribute to her late husband. The "Missin Curfew" podcast shared a video on X in which Richardson reflected on his close friendship with Gaudreau during their time together in Calgary.
“You know how that is your stall buddy. You talk a lot. You get to know each other pretty quick,” Richardson said. “Just watching him grow and mature ... he was just special to be around.”
In her response on X, Meredith reminisced about a moment from a Super Bowl party when Richardson shared a motivational phrase. She quoted the tweet, writing:
“It’s hard to have a bad day in the NHL” Brad probably doesn’t remember even saying that to us at our team Super Bowl party but it’s something that stuck with John and I every day since. Learned a lot from him. Love u and Jess ♥️”
It has been a difficult year for the Gaudreau family, as Johnny and his brother Matthew died on Aug. 29 after being struck by a suspected drunk truck driver while they were cycling. The 43-year-old suspect is currently in legal custody.
