Dave Portnoy teases legal action from fan who Paul Bissonnette choked out while celebrating Oilers win
Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy jokingly says he's afraid of potential legal action after Paul Bissonnette choked an Oilers fan during Game 4. Bissonnette and the Spittin' Chiclets podcast were in attendance for the Oilers 8-1 win.
During the game, the jumbotron showed an excited Bissonnette, who took his shirt off and began choking out a fan. It was a funny moment, and Portnoy was quick to react, asking if he was going to get sued.
"Am I gonna get sued by the guy Biz beat up in Edmonton?," Portnoy wrote.
Of course, it does appear to be a joke, as it was all in fun as the Oilers were cruising to a lopsided win over the Panthers to win their first game of the Stanley Cup Final.
Bissonnette, meanwhile, just retweeted Portnoy's post and had no other comment, but it was a good laugh for many fans on social media.
Paul Bissonnette is a co-host of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast and is a former NHL player.
Oilers keep series alive with lopsided Game 4 win
Edmonton beat Florida 8-1 in Game 4 to avoid being swept in the Stanley Cup Final.
However, the Oilers are still in a hole, as Edmonton will need to win three straight to win the Stanley Cup. But the Oilers remain confident they can do just that.
“I’m sure outside, the belief starts to grow a little bit, but we’re just focused on one game,” Oilers forward Zach Hyman said, via NHL.com “And we bought ourselves another couple days here.”
“I feel we’re most comfortable when our backs are against the wall,” Oilers forward Connor Brown said. “That’s kind of what we showed at the beginning of the year when we were dead last, our backs against the wall and we came out and had some historic runs, so I think we’re a new club in that regard
“When we get in a rhythm and we get playing our brand of hockey, we know what it feels like and (Saturday) night, we knew exactly what it feels like. We’re a scary club.”
Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals is set for Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET in Florida. Edmonton is a +114 underdog, while the Panthers are -135 favorites to get the win in Game 5.
If the Oilers can pull off the upset, they will return home for Game 6 on Friday.
