Detroit Red Wings families of Dylan Larkin, Jeff Petry and others compete in multiple events of "Bolympics"
Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jeff Petry has been spending the offseason with his family of five. This weekend, the Petry's got together with Red Wings families to organize a “Bolympics” event for their children.
Jeff Petry’s wife, Julie, shared a series of pictures and clips of their outdoor adventures from the day on her Instagram story. The event was decorated with Olympics-themed balloons which replicated the five Olympic rings from the original logo.
Julie also shared special moments of their four sons, Boyd, Barrett, Bowen and Blake, who participated in various events at the “Bolympics.”
Everyone wore custom-made “Bolympic” T-shirts, designed and prepared by Line Change–the clothing brand co-founded by Carey Price’s wife Angela Price and Julie Petry. Former Red Wings forward Darren Helm attended the event with his wife Devon and their three daughters.
Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin and his wife Kenzy Wolfe were also part of the fun event. The families played different sports, including basketball, potato sack race, tug-of-war and swimming. There were also special treats and refreshments at the end of the event for the children.
Detroit Red Wings players attend Detroit Lions practice
On Sunday, Red Wings’ Dylan Larkin, Jeff Petry, Andrew Copp and Alex DeBrincat visited the NFL franchise at the Detroit Lions practice session. They linked up with Lions' quarterback Jared Goff and gifted him Detroit’s special No. 16 jersey.
Goff was given two jerseys by the Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, one with the QB’s name and number (16). He received another No. 16 jersey with Red Wings legend, Vladimir Konstantinov’s name on the back.
Speaking of the reason behind gifting the Lions franchise quarterback two jerseys, the Red Wings captain said:
“We got him both because we know how special that number is. We got to share a little bit of the history of number 16 for the Red Wings. And we all know Vladdy is a special sports figure in our city and with our team. I think giving him both was the right thing to do.” [H/T Jeanna Trotman]
The Detroit Red Wings missed the playoffs last season by a narrow margin. This offseason, the club is looking to build towards a title contender roster and will be regrouping soon ahead of the new season.
