Dylan Strome drops four-word reaction as Capitals' defenseman Jakob Chychrun named NHL's Third Star of the Week
The NHL named Jakob Chychrun the Third Star for the week ending December 1. The 26-year-old defenseman was instrumental in the Washington Capitals’ four-game winning streak last week.
Chychrun's offensive contributions, including three goals and four assists, played a key role in lifting the Capitals to first place in the Metropolitan Division and the Eastern Conference.
Capitals forward Dylan Strome shared the team’s Instagram post about the news. He added a playful comment, writing:
“@Jakobchychrun guys going spooky mood.”
Chychrun made the game-winning goal during three straight games, including an overtime winner against the Islanders on November 29.
Jakob Chychrun has been consistent this season, with 15 points in 19 games. His eight goals are tied for the most among NHL defensemen, and his 0.42 goals-per-game rate leads all defensemen with at least 10 games played.
Jakob Chychrun and Washington Capitals defeat Devils 6-5
The Washington Capitals won 6-5 against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. Taylor Raddysh and Pierre-Luc Dubois scored in a 10-second span late in the third period to secure the win. Raddysh gave the Capitals a 5-4 lead, and Dubois added another goal shortly after, making it 6-4.
Stefan Noesen scored for the Devils to make it 6-5, but Washington held on. The Capitals’ power play was strong, going 3-for-5 in the game. They scored two goals on the power play in the second period, helping them take the lead.
John Carlson had three assists, and Rasmus Sandin, Dubois, and Raddysh each had a goal and an assist. The Capitals played without Alex Ovechkin, but Carlson stepped up, playing 23:41 and leading the team. Charlie Lindgren made 22 saves in net.
For the Devils, Jack Hughes had three assists, and Noesen scored twice. The Devils struggled with puck battles and faceoffs. Capitals coach Spencer Carbery acknowledged the game's ups and downs.
"There were a lot of ebbs and flows in the game," Carbery said (via NHL.com). "I just thought the power play stepped up huge. For us to come in here and get a win, even if it was a little bit odd the way that it played out and both teams off a back-to-back, it's a big game for us."
The Washington Capitals now have a record of 17-6-1 overtime loss. At home, they are 8-4-1. They will play the San Jose Sharks, who have a record of 9-13-5. On the road, the Sharks are 3-7-4. The game is on December 3rd at 7:00 PM EST.
