"Everybody needs a good dream" "Stay away from our king": Fans react to David Pastrnak recruiting Oilers star Leon Draisaitl

Boston Bruins alternate captain David Pastrnak is open to having Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl in Boston. During an appearance on the “Spittin' Chiclets” podcast on Thursday, Pastrnak shared his desire to recruit Draisaitl for his team in the summer.

“I would love Draisaitl," Pastrnak exclaimed when Leon Draisaitl’s name was mentioned among players he was asked if he would like to recruit for the Bruins.

The clip has since been making rounds on the internet, with fans reacting in the comment section. Some fans expressed confidence that Draisaitl would remain loyal to the Oilers and stay in Edmonton, saying Pastrnak's idea can only be a 'dream'.

Following are some fan reactions from X/Twitter:

“Everyone needs a good dream.”
“Never going to happen. McDavid and Draisaitl are besties and one or both are destined to re-sign,” commented one user.
“Look the fact that this is an idea is crazy. Edmonton wouldn’t. On top of that? We have no cap for him. Big market stuff,” wrote another fan.

Some Oilers fans made it clear that they did not want Pastrnak to take Leon Draisaitl away from Edmonton. They told the Bruins alternate captain to leave their ‘king’ alone.

“Stay away from our king.”
“No bro back off,” wrote another fan.

Meanwhile, Bruins fans were excited by the idea. They imagined the prospect of having the two superstars play side by side in Boston.

“Leon and Pasta on a line together would be sick. It’s happening,” quipped one user.
“Showtime in Boston 100%,” commented another fan.

David Pastrnak hints at ‘interesting summer’ for Bruins

During the same conversation, Pastrnak mentioned that choosing to play for the Bruins should be an easy choice for players. He mentioned that the rich history of the Bruins as one of the Original Six is already a huge factor for attracting players to join the team.

“For the Boston Bruins, Original Six, it should be enough for you to want to come and play here,” he said.

Pastrnak also mentioned that he is looking forward to having new teammates in Boston and hinted that the team will have an interesting summer.

“Would I love for people to come and wanting to play with me? Yes, of course. At the end of the day, if you don’t want to come to the Bruins … you have to want to come there for the organization and be prepared to obviously learn and follow the rules there and we’ll see. I think it’s going to be an interesting summer.”

Would you like to watch Leon Draisaitl pair up with David Pastrnak in Boston? Or do you feel Connor McDavid and Draisaitl are better off together?
