Ex-NHL enforcer Georges Laraque drops 3-word reaction to his inclusion in Evgeni Malkin's 500-goal milestone
Former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque had a simple three-word reaction to being included on the list of 113 players who contributed to Evgeni Malkin's 500th career NHL goal.
When the Pittsburgh Penguins' PR team tweeted out the full list of players assisted in Evgeni Malkin's milestone, Laraque tweeted saying:
"Number 88 baby."
Laraque's one assist to Malkin during their time as teammates in Pittsburgh was enough to land him at #88 on the list. Sidney Crosby topped the list with 140 assists on Malkin's goals and Kris Letang in second place with 87 assists.
Malkin achieved the exclusive 500-goal mark during the Penguins' 6-5 overtime win against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. The 38-year-old Russian joins Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby and Steven Stamkos as the only active NHL players with 500 goals.
Malkin reflected after the game that he and Crosby have continuously pushed each other to be better throughout their careers in Pittsburgh.
“First, those are great names. Second, it’s like, not bad myself,” Malkin said post-game.“I’m trying to do my best. When you play against Ovechkin, you’re trying to be better. Same, like, we play with Sid, same team. But I’m trying to do my best. He’s probably looking to me.
"Finally, I score. Now, I’m relaxed. Not think too much. Sleep better. Just play hockey.”
Currently leading the NHL in points with 11 in five games.
