Ex-US Prez Donald Trump was once challenged by Jaden Schwartz to a game of golf after butchering his name

Seattle Kraken's alternate captain Jaden Schwartz had once challenged former U.S. President Donald Trump to a golf match. This happened during the St. Louis Blues' visit to the White House on Oct. 18, 2019, after their 2019 Stanley Cup win.

Before joining Seattle, Schwartz spent ten seasons with the St. Louis Blues, playing in 560 NHL games and winning a Stanley Cup. After their victory, the team visited the White House to meet President Trump.

During the ceremony, Trump mispronounced Schwartz's name, calling him "Jason" instead of Jaden. Trump praised Schwartz for his key goal in the Stanley Cup Final and mentioned his golfing skills.

"Jaden Schwartz scored the winning goal in the last 15 seconds of regulation, and everybody else just took a deep breath and said, that was close. Where's Jason? Jason Jaden, come here. Say a few words Jaden. And they say he's a great golfer," Trump said.

Schwartz humorously responded by crediting his teammate Tyler Bozak, his golf partner. He then playfully challenged Trump to a golf match, saying:

"Well, I wouldn't have been able to score if it wasn't for my partner passing me the puck. Where are you? Tyler (Bozak), golf partner. Two. Undefeated. If you want to take us on some time, let us know."

The light-hearted exchange surprised many. After the visit, the Blues returned to St. Louis to focus on the new season.

Leafs ex-captain John Tavares's trade proposition involved Jaden Schwartz

Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares is the subject of trade rumors. One proposal suggests trading him to the Seattle Kraken. Tavares is in the final year of his seven-year, $77 million contract. The trade suggestion involves Tavares going to Seattle in exchange for Yanni Gourde, Jaden Schwartz and a 2025 second-round pick.

This trade could help Seattle by adding a veteran leader for one season. Gourde could be a solid third-line center for Toronto, and Schwartz might add depth to the roster. Despite the rumors, Tavares has said he wants to stay with the Maple Leafs. After Toronto's first-round playoff exit, he expressed his commitment to the team.

"I haven’t put much thought to it, but I mean, I love playing here,” Tavares said, "I think it’s a remarkable place to play."

The Maple Leafs have taken away Tavares’ captaincy and given it to Auston Matthews. The Maple Leafs will start their season on Oct. 9 against the Montreal Canadiens.
