Flyers HC John Tortorella makes his feelings known about Morgan Frost's turnover that sealed 4-2 loss to Utah Hockey Club

The Philadelphia Flyers succumbed to a 4-2 defeat against Utah Hockey Club on Sunday night at Wells Fargo Center. This extended their winless streak to three games (0-2-1) after going 3-0-1 in their previous four. Despite leading in shot attempts early, the Flyers struggled with turnovers and discipline during the game.

Head coach John Tortorella shared his frustration after the game, particularly about a turnover in the third period from Morgan Frost that led to the game-winning shorthanded goal by Utah's Kevin Stenlund. Tortorella said:

"That sucks. I mean, he won't do that again the rest of his career."

However, the coach also acknowledged the positives in Frost's overall play during the game, mentioning that the line was performing well and that he had no issues with Frost's effort.

"There wasn't much else going on with some other people, and we were trying to use them as most we could in the second half of the game. So I had no problems with his game," Tortorella added.

The Philadelphia were 2-for-3 on the penalty kill but struggled on the power play, going 0-for-2. They also allowed a shorthanded goal, which sealed the loss. Tortorella was upset with the mistake but saw it as a learning moment for Frost, who had played well otherwise. The Flyers are still working on consistency, and Tortorella’s tough approach may help them improve in future games.

Utah coach praised team's defense for win over Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers lost Utah Hockey Club after failing to reply to their last two goals. Michael Carcone scored first for Utah at 7:01 of the second period after his rebound deflected off Rasmus Ristolainen. Joel Farabee tied it for Philadelphia 19 seconds later, tapping in Nick Seeler’s rebound near the crease.

Juuso Valimaki gave Utah a 2-1 lead at 9:42, tipping Mikhail Sergachev’s shot past Samuel Ersson. Owen Tippett tied it 2-2 for the Flyers at 13:34 with a shot from the left face-off circle.

Logan Cooley scored on a power play at 15:30, giving Utah a 3-2 lead with a backhand shot. Kevin Stenlund added a short-handed goal at 15:43.

Utah coach Andre Tourigny praised his team's defense.

"Leading by one starting the third ... I liked the way we defended and I like the way we play in the [offensive] zone as well," Tourigny said per NHL.com, "We had good looks and we generated good offense."

The Flyers thought they tied it in the third, but Jamie Drysdale’s goal was overturned for goalie interference. Ersson made 21 saves, while Jaxson Stauber stopped 22 shots for Utah.
