Flyers HC John Tortorella slams media while explaining Nick Seeler altercation
Philadelphia Flyers HC John Tortorella demonstrated his well-known confrontational style with the media once again.
During Wednesday's matchup with the Washington Capitals, beat reporter Jackie Spiegel reported that Tortorella and defenseman Nick Seeler were engaged in a heated exchange during a TV timeout.
At one point, Torts had gestured to assistant coach Rocky Thompson, indicating that he should handle the situation.
In the post-game interview, John Tortorella addressed the incident, downplaying its significance. He explained that he and Seeler often have discussions during games, emphasizing that their exchange was simply about hockey plays.
He acknowledged that the media might exaggerate the situation but reiterated that it was merely a discussion between two individuals who care deeply about the game. He said (1:09 onwards).
"Seeler and I have those once a game. We're just discussing hockey plays. I'm not going to tell you what we were talking about, but that's all part of it."
"You guys might make a big deal out of it, but it's just two men who care about what's going on on the ice. I love that guy, and that stuff is good for us. But yeah, you'll probably make a big deal out of it."
John Tortorella added by clarifying that they were specifically talking about a play related to a goal, reinforcing that such exchanges are a normal part of their dynamic.
Meanwhile, Nick Seeler also weighed in on his heated exchange with Torts and said that while they may have a little argument, Tortorella always has their backs and genuinely cares about every guy on the bench.
