Flyers prospect issues warning to Matt Rempe over hit that left him injured

Matt Rempe hit Philadelphia Flyers prospect Matteo Mann from behind, causing an injury to the player that forced him out of action for a while. It was a key moment in the rivalry between the Flyers and the New York Rangers. These two teams have no love lost, and that is nowhere more evident than in Mann's reaction to the hit.

Mann went on the "Four Fly Guys" podcast to detail his perspective of the incident. In doing so, he issued a warning to Rempe:

"Yeah, I only got to play a period last year because I got hurt. Rempe hit me from behind. I'd like to see him again in the future. F**k, you gotta get there first. No, no, he didn't [reach out and apologize for the injury]. Classic Rangers guy. I see he was in training with Georges Laraque this summer. I might have to hire someone down here."

Rempe is working with renowned enforcer Georges Laraque, a player known for fighting. While this could just be general training to be better prepared for anything on the ice, Mann believes it means that he needs to hire his own trainer for a potential future showdown with Matt Rempe.

Matt Rempe opens up on fight training

Whether or not it's to potentially fight Matteo Mann for the Philadelphia Flyers, Matt Rempe is training to be a better fighter. When the gloves come off, Rempe wants to be feared by other teams.

He said via Oilers Nation:

“I also want to work on the fighting. I want to be the guy. I really enjoy that side of the game, and I want to continue to work on that. And then it’s getting stronger, filling into my body more, my mobility – everything. I’ve got a lot of work to do, and I’ve always done that. I think as a sixth-round pick, I’ve kind of always exceeded expectations.”

Unlike other non-combat sports, fighting is a big part of hockey. There could be a major fight between players during every game, so players have to be prepared.
